Review Yoshi (Wii U eShop / NES)
Not very eggciting
With so many tile-matching games available on so many different gaming platforms, it’s surprising to see that, despite the Wii U launching six months ago, there have yet to be any released on the new console. Nintendo has finally decided to fill that empty gap with the Virtual Console release of Yoshi, an NES era puzzler...
Review Yoshi (3DS eShop / NES)
Soft boiled
Mario's loyal dinosaur companion Yoshi may have made his debut in the Super Nintendo classic Super Mario World, but one year later Nintendo gave him his own title on the rapidly fading NES. That game was Yoshi, and it's now come to non-Ambassadors on the 3DS eShop. It's a falling block puzzler, which is a genre every video game...
Review Yoshi (Wii Virtual Console / NES)
An eggciting puzzler?
In the early 90s, presumably following the success of Tetris, Nintendo went through a phase of releasing one falling block puzzler after another. Dr. Mario, Yoshi’s Cookie and Wario’s Woods are key examples of this. Many gamers will no doubt have forgotten this puzzler simply known as Yoshi in North Amer

From the un-egg-ceptable to the egg-ceptional, as ranked by you
Yoshi! The little green dinosaur has been on our screens for a long time now — over 30 years, in fact — but did you know that his first-ever spin-off game was an underwhelming block-falling puzzle à la Tetris? Honestly, it's a miracle that Mr. Munchakoopas (to use his full name)...

About The Game
A quick-shuffle action puzzle game starring Yoshi!
Yoshi is an action/puzzle game starring Mario's dinosaur buddy Yoshi who has been imprisoned in an egg. Now it's raining Goombas, Bloopers, and Boo Buddies, and you have to help Mario stop the airborne invasion. As the critters fall, catch them on trays. Stack two of a kind and they both disappear, or capture the whole bunch in between eggshells. When the eggshells match, out hatches Yoshi and up goes your score! The action heats up as the characters fall faster and faster. To save the day, switch and shuffle, and don't let your piles get too high!

Hmm... I may get this. I can remember playing a friend's copy of the Game Boy version and enjoying it, but it doesn't seem the most exciting concept these days... I guess I'll have to rely on your review guys!
Well I used to have it on Gameboy. It's a good game, but 'm not sure if I feel lke paying £3.50 for it with all the other games currently available...
I had this game. It was okay for a while but nothing great. I guess I thought I owed it to myself to play it because of the Mario licensed attached. Thankfully I grown out of that.
I loved it on NES and Game Boy, but I don't know if I want to blow $5 on this for another play through. I probably won't because I don't play puzzle games that much anymore, but if you've never played this before check it out. Its a fun puzzler.
this was a decent effort of a game, something different from your ordinary looking puzzler.
Correct me if I'm worng but wasn't this game originally knonw as simply 'Yoshi'
It's only called "Yoshi" in America.
it's a simple puzzler that is fun (and more fun with 2 players).
it's not a game to play through as there really is no end.
i know i would play a game of it when i'm bored not just once in a while.
and anyone can pick it up and play it with you 2-players, so i think it's a good choice to have it on vc. i always liked the game. there was a time when i was addicted to it. and i'm gonna get it with my next wii points.
soon you will be hooked and spent hours on it.
4/5 stars
It was fun back in the day. i bought the cartridge used for $4 only a year after it came out...
Honestly, if you're into puzzle games, pick up Columns, Dr. Mario, the puyo puyo clones (Dr. Robotnik's mean bean machine or Kirby's Avalanche) or wait for Yoshi's cookie. This one is only alright (but it does have an interesting twist the whole puzzle game thing and that can take a little time getting used to it at first).
Seriously, what SCkkKatTTrrRrbrain said.
Umm, I have this game on my calculator, minus teh yoshi stuff. and it came for free on there. Look in your puzzle pack
This is a game I've never previously played before the VC.
This is one of the most unusually addictive games for NES.
I keep finding myself turning on the Wii just to play this game again. Trying to go for a higher score is always enjoyable. It's a good way to kill some free time. Graphics and sound wasn't mind blowing even for a NES game but still good.
It's just as good as Dr. Mario, or even Tetris in my opinion. My sister alone would spend hours, and hours playing this game. A great, yet sadlly long forgotten gem. Worth a look.
I hate this game! The graphics are weak, the music is lame, the right piece can take forever to come, it has no save feature, and the game play is overly repetitive.
Frankly, this is a load of old cobblers.
Eh, Ive played way too many mario puzzle games
I think Ill pass on this one
It still looks decent though!
I tried the game boy version of this game out at a trading store, and I must say it is just not good. the graphics and music are weak. It's extremely boring and repetitive, and I came to this conclusion after playing it for only 2 minutes! There's better puzzlers for VC out there.
looks enjoying for only a bit, but then gets boring...
It's fun for about 15 minutes and then it begins to lose its luster very quickly.
this must have been released at the very end of the NES period.
I don't have NES
It's 30 cents people!
Doesn't matter. I got it for free as an Ambassador but it still quickly became dull.
