the release date for the flingsmash bundle is in november, so i'd assume the standalone remotes will be available then too. nintendo might mention the remote at the 3DS event next week, then.
I found that I really didn't care much for wii motion plus, the controls where still buggy and quite unresponsive. Nintendo claimed that this control scheme would better immerse us. The controls seem custom made for fps, but to me there are far better shooters on other consoles.

I can see why though. I'll no doubt get skyward sword. But for games like Red Steel, if and when they make a 3rd I think it would be smarter to build it on the PS3 and 360 with their new motion controls. RTS2 really under preformed, and I think it can be attributed to the team developing on the wrong console for their target audience.
With the new improved motion controllers, HD graphics, trophies/achievement support, and a opportunity for online multiplayer they would be dumb not to bring it or make it exclusively for the PS3 and 360. They would hit a wider fan base for shooters and be able to get a mature rating to appeal to older gamers. and thusly sell more games.

nintendo of europe has confirmed that the remote is real, so yeah, it's happening. it's funny to stop and think about why i want it so bad for the one game i have that uses it.
one thing i've noticed is that it's still slightly larger than a normal remote:
looking at the space between the "wii" logo and the bottom, you can see the plus is a little longer. i laugh at the thought of nintendo now having to release a third silicone sleeve to keep up with all their remote combinations.
also, somewhat related- can anyone here with a black remote say if the texture on the bottom is different than the normal white remotes? i've heard the black accessories have the same coarser material on the bottom half as the classic controller pro. that'd be all the more reason to buy.
There longer and Bigger?, and it come in Black...... A Yellow color would look cool

To me it looks like they're the same dimensions. The Wii logo has shrunk and been moved upwards to make space for the new text underneath it. See, it's closer to the 4 lights than the old remote.
Too many peripherals (official and otherwise) were built with the Wiimote's dimensions, so I can't imagine they'd change its size.

I think the black and white remotes feel the same; however, the material on the bottom of the black nunchuk is much coarser than the white nunchuk.

good eye, you're right. i almost want to take one apart to see how they've managed to fit it in. i've seen the innards of the current remote and it's pretty full already.
On-topic: I don't mind either the smooth or rough finish. They both feel fine to me, and I'm surprised people are so darn picky about something like that. O_o
