Topic: Super Mario Galaxy 2 given 97% from ONM.

...that is the same mark it gave SMG 1. The review didn't reveal anything that we probably all don't know from the various previews and spoilers on the internet. The level design is outstanding and the difficulty markedly increased compared to the first game.

You say that, but ONM UK are actually more critical of Nintendo's titles than of any others. They expect the best from Nintendo and, when something's not quite right, they really let you know about it and they almost always hold it against the game.

I'm expecting a 10 from Nintendo Power.

Yeah I think ONM are quite fare and their reviews usually tally with most others out there, I used to think they were biased till I actually ,you know,read their magazine and,while not really to my tastes, I was pleastly surprised at what I found.Face it guys this game ain't getting less than 90% anywhere so why all the fuss. Edge magazine ( a notoriously hard to please bunch) gave it 10/10 .Just buy the bloody game will ya

77% and 81% are good scores though, and at IMO way too high for SPM, the single most disappointing Mario I have ever played.

I thought it would get the same score and this is definetley my most anticipated game. I think 81% is too low for super paper mario, I would give it 94%

How is 81 not a good review? 77 is decent, and 68 isn't bad, just not good either.
And let me rephrase that for what I actually meant.

Well, that's because every game in the main series just so happens to be stellar. Its not like this will be the only source giving this game an excellent review. And honestly, wouldn't you be shocked if this game didnt get a favourable review from any reviewer out there?

Considering that reviews are usually a no go on games that are too similar to their predecessors, no. Don't get me wrong, I'm getting this game, but Nintendo giving their own game a great shouldn't really make people excited, even if it sucks, they are gonna say it's the best game ever.

Same with me, I love Super Paper Mario. I don't know why so many people didn't like it. It combined two things I really like, Paper Mario, and classic 2D mario. The only thing that was annoying was the rupee part but that was easy to bypass if you just look up the code. The story was funny, the graphics and gameplay were superb, and the music was fitting.
If you were looking for a true SMB RPG sequal than you obviosly didn't watch or read any info on it.
Anyway, SMG2 will be amazing, I don't know if the UK NP is biased, but the NA version isn't published by nintendo anymore, and they do typically rate/review all games fairly if you actually put the effort into reading them.

It's still just as good as Galaxy 1, so regardless of what it's ranked, or what score it has, i'll be getting it either way. Also, Super Paper Mario is one of my favorite Wii games, and deserves at least an 88%
