Topic: Recommendations for non-gamers?

I'm thinking of gifting my brother a game for Christmas since I recently gave him one of my Wiis as he's shown interest in having a Wii for a couple games like Wii Sports and Wii Fit. Currently that's all they have although they have my copy of Wii Sports Resort. What would you guys recommend among the WiiWare titles for a non-gamer? I already plan to buy them the Wii Fit Plus disc since they bought Wii Fit for themselves but I may get them another game. Thanks for your suggestions. If it helps with recommendations, my brother and his wife are older than me (in their 40's).

Well, there are a lot of exercise games out there, but coupled with Fit+ and two exercise games might be sending the wrong message! There are a number of trivia games on the console, but nothing approaching half the quality of Buzz. Brain Age Academy is supposed to be good but looks too kiddy to gift to two adults, probably. If they have the Wii online you could always gift them some puzzle games, My Aquarium, or maybe even Orbient. Wii Sports Resort or Wii Play would be obvious choices. Animal Crossing might be well received, too, though they likely won't know what it is.

How about Boom Blox? Easy to get into and great with more than one player.

My brother and his wife already own Wii Fit so I figured I'd give them more to do with the balance board by giving them Wii Fit +. Yeah it's too bad they don't have a PS3 since Buzz is an outstanding trivia game and they could do the instant Netflix thing on there. They won't know anything other than what I've shown them which isn't much. I did play House of the Dead: Overkill with my bro one day which was pretty fun. He seemed to dig that one. So if puzzle games would be a good option, which are some good ones? I only have a couple on my Wii, Tetris and Dr. Mario. Thanks for your suggestions and opinions.

Well, for a Wii game, I'd suggest Samba De Amigo with the optional maracas. It's a fun party game.

In terms of WiiWare, I'd go with a multi-player sports game like Family: Mini Golf (the only half-decent Family game IMO), or CueSports - Pool Revolution. Maybe Tiki Towers or Big Kahuna Party.

Currently playing: Gunstar Super Heroes (GBA), Infinite Space (NDS)

For Christmas you can't go wrong with Christmas Clix or World of Goo. They are both very fun and simple to play, nothing complicated but become challenging.

Ok thanks. Any other Wiiware suggested will be noted. That's what I'm looking to get them.

I agree with Boom Blox. Also, NSMB Wii.

Those are great Wii disc game suggestions but I'm more looking for WiiWare suggestions.

Tales of Monkey Island is a great game to play and think together.

You can never go wrong with a puzzle game like Bust a Move Plus or Tetris Party. Also, Bombrman is another easy to get into title that works great with more than one player.

I suggest Family Card Games, an underated collection of three good card games that will appeal to casual players.

Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.

Late for this Christmas, but I would suggest -- Target Toss Pro Bags. It's a beanbag toss game with a good feeling in the physics, and a good pace to the game. Good easy-going multiplayer, with some motion but not like hyper arcade speed.

If they like active games like Wii Sports and Wii Fit, then they might like the Wiiware game Helix. It's a rhythm game that gives a light workout, and it's not bad for $10. Nintendolife did a review of it a while back.
