Topic: Purple Coins or Green Stars

wich did you enjoyed best collecting?
for me the Purple Coins were more fun, while i didn`t got far onto the Green Stars... two of my favourite levels in both games are the Deep and Dark and Luigi`s Purple Coins

Green Stars. Purple Coins were fun, but I enjoyed the adventurous feel of finding Green Stars more. I guess I liked that scavenger hunt feel.

purple coins were all right, but I think i prefer green stars... there were a few i found just while exploring every inch of a galaxy for fun, y'know? :3

Green Stars since they were more of a challenge and there were more Green Stars than Purple Comets.

Purple coins. I dunno, I got bored of green stars after the first 20, but I could deal with purple coin challenges alot more.

I had a bit more patience a few years ago and got all of the purple coins, but I only got a couple of green stars before I got bored. It would have been great if getting a green star didn't take you back to the hub (like those big coins), so you could just explore all the levels and collect the stars without bring interrupted all the time (if you get what I mean :S)

@Fuzzy: i think i totally know what you mean... sometimes it was annoying to be all up into getting a normal yellow star only to find a green star while exploring something and having to go allllll the way back from the beginning again to collect said yellow star. if there's a SMG3 (or in the next incarnation of the 3D Super Mario series), I'd like to see them allow us to collect green stars and then keep going with whatever else we were doing in the level. :3

Like the way it was done in Wario Land. You could spend 15 minutes in the middle of a world trying to triple-jump off of the heads of those Bandoleros to get a mission credit, but when you nailed it you picked up where you left off.

Definitely the Green Stars...

Preferred the green stars but a few were pretty badly positioned, making you take leaps of faith off the level in the hope of falling into it without tumbling past and losing another life (and the camera could be pretty uncooperative on a few of those, too).

@Raylax: The only one that really gave me trouble was one that you had to fall up into, but I forget what the particular galaxy it's in is called...

Purple Coins, they were pure fast pace challenge. Same as others, Green Stars became boring after a gettiing few, I felt its challenge to be more like solving a puzzle,

@tbd, @burning_spear - yeah that's what i was getting at. Even Mario 64 kinda does it, where after getting the 100 coins star in a level you had the choice to finish the level or keep going. It's good to stop breaking up the gameplay, and having to start a level again from the start.

One thing I've noticed is that I've had to really push myself to finish SMG2 100% (getting all the green stars), where in the first one, I never lost interest in replaying each star as Luigi. For some reason I just had more fun with the second 120 stars in the first game, even though they were the same ones I had already gotten, just with a slightly different character. It's not like I don't want to find the green stars, I'm just not motivated. It kind of feels like the only reason I'm doing it is for the Grandmaster Galaxy.

On Topic: Purple Coins.

Green Stars for sure! It put the exploration aspect back in the 3D Mario series, and it ultimately ended up being my favorite part of the game.

Green Stars, Golden Stars - doesn't matter anyway.
More stars is what we want. Mario games that last some time, with lots of stuff to find!

Purple Coins aren't even comparable as you just get a star for them.
But yes, more stars means more Purple Coins.
So, more S.T.A.R.S!! More green. More gold. And more blue Sunshine coins!
