It's hardly bashing. The very first words that come out of her mouth, "I see why people like the game, but it isn't for me".

A hot girl who plays run and gun more "male oriented" games is the hottest, because she's down with "guy things."

It's very stereotypical for girls to prefer more "cartoony" games.

For me, I don't care too much about the style for the most part, as long as it's well done and accomplishes what it expects to do. The completely oversized steroid fiends of "Gears of War" are a bit of a turn off for me, so that's probably the last FPS I'd get. (Though I would be playing Halo were it to have motion controls).

It's not a big problem if she really just feels like a darker Mario type game would be more interesting to her. However, for people who don't care about that or for the younger folks, there's nothing wrong with going the cartoony route. In today's media culture, it does beg the question of does she feel she HAS to be all "hardcore" for the boys to respect her. It also makes one wonder if there are scriptwriters telling her to criticize it so the 12 year old fanboys watching her will think she's hot. Either way, G4 pulls in the 12-35 year old male demographic, so they win.

Based on some of the comments on this thread, it is obviously harder for a woman to be taken seriously, because obviously the only reason she's on TV, because she's hot. I've never seen the show, but I'm sure the dudes aren't "the size of Jabba the Hut with volcano like zits." Could it be she's hot and likes games? It's not like she's the only HD fanboy/girl in mainstream gaming media or in the world. Still, I think it's a mark of a poor reviewer to ignore a games strong points, just because it's not your particular style. (But again, you never hear "they're only on TV because they're hot. when male reviewers do it, which makes me sad.)

She's free not to like the game and all but that's BS. It's like people who say 'I'm not racist but...' or 'No offense but..', then come out with racist or offensive stuff.

Third person shooter. Whatevs. It's all running around and shooting at stuff at the end of the day. I've only watched my friends play it a few times. I was just using it as an example of a type of game I have nothing against and would probably even enjoy, but I'm not a huge fan of the art style.

sorry, i should probably clarify that i think everyone is on TV because they're hot, unless (a) they're playing a specific character in a drama of some sort, (b) they're on a reality TV show/talk show/game show, or (c) they're in one of those shows on TLC/Discovery/CourtTV that feature everyday people. and most of the time, all those people are made up really nice for TV anyway, so you still don't get to see them au naturale. :3

Whether or not she's scripted, the reaction here is beyond ridiculous. If she were reviewing the game and said it's bad because it's cartoony, that's one thing; she's just saying that she personally does not like cartoony games, and that is not at all unusual. There are a lot of people here who would turn up their noses at the typical 360 game's attempt at realism. Everyone has her own tastes. And for the record, I do have a woman friend who doesn't like cartoony games (or rather, doesn't prefer them), so it's not like this is science fiction.

Pfft, of course it's science fiction, no one here knows any women.
