James, I am just trying to relate what I think are misconceptions about where the ban is coming from or what the ban is for. It doesn't affect anyone here that I know of, because no one here seems to play in offline North American Brawl tournaments with any regularity. I haven't said much of my personal opinion on if he should or shouldn't be banned because I don't exactly have one as of yet, though I suspect the ban is an overreaction, myself.
I intend to go to a tournament or two this month to post my actual first-hand thoughts because I know there are some great players in my area. I have read that our state's top player supports the ban, and it is in effect already at local tournaments here, but hopefully I can catch a friendly match with someone using him and ask some questions to get more detail.
The problem doesn't seem to be that anyone thinks Metaknight is unbeatable, but it's that he doesn't seem to have any weakness. On match-up charts, he is even at worst with everyone. Other characters who can play against him have significant weaknesses to a wide range of other characters.
Whether it is a good game at the competitive level or not, I think it is very worthwhile as a game for friendlies because the imbalance provides a wealth of interesting match-ups. Some of us in NL's chat play every week and we rarely use any of the perceived Top Tier characters, and it is always interesting to see how lesser used characters match up against each other, I find.
Re: Jigglypuff comments His special moves other than the punch pretty much suck now. But his aerial game is still quite good, and that is especially important in Brawl. Definitely one of the lesser characters, but still worthwhile and fun to play.
I totally understand that and it's fascinating to read this kind of discussion about a game I had previously written off as lacking depth, but then again I am a Virtua Fighter player and therefore pretty much approaching Maximum Snobbery when it comes to fighting games.
For me personally, I'd rather a game were unbalanced and interesting than perfectly balanced and boring.
I agree with James on that one. StreetFight is not very balance but people still have a blast with it. You don't see them banning Ryu for being cheap
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...

This can be achieved easily enough by having one or multiple characters to counter each individual character. I just think it's too bad when one character, like Meta Knight, is essentially a counter to all the characters. At least, that's one way to look at it.

Exactly. It's like playing rock, paper, scissors with a new Nuclear Warhead option which has a 66% chance of beating whatever it's put up against. It's not that he's unbeatable, its just he has an edge over pretty much everything.
