Selling your originals is stupid. Don't people like to collect or hold onto that precious nostalgia? yeesh. Let alone you're just throwing more money away. Anyways, I'll be getting this as well.
I'm not gonna use my originals anyway and I consider them a waste of space since I have all of them on VC and this disc whenever it comes out

It probably wasn't news to some people, but this ultra exclusive package is really just an accompanying CD with a single track from each game (that's 3 full tracks, the rest are simply sound effects) and a book containing trivia and design documents that I could probably find on the Internet a few weeks after it's release.
While I'm partial to the new graphics and music they received, I can so easily download them on the Virtual console channel. I'm not one for anniversary editions - I don't know why I preordered it in the first place - maybe because I wanted an opportunity to play them again on one disc without the hassle of downloading them from the shop.
So I preorered Fable 3 (PC) instead. I hope MS don't cancel it!
And as for the games themselves, while I'm partial to the new graphics and music they received, I can so easily download them on the Virtual console channel.
I already have the four games in their NES versions on the VC but I'm still getting the collection. Why? Because being able to play the old games in new graphics is the whole point of All Stars. I do quite enjoy the graphics - they really do make each game seem brand new again compared to the NES games.

At one point I did, but then I had too many games that they were taking over. Now convenience and as little physical space as possible are my main priorities.

Good on you. As someone who is no doubt interested in retro games, that's understandable.
I, on the other have lost interest in the package.

I've decided I'm not going to buy this, because I still have my SNES cart. How many times are we supposed to buy the same games over again? You buy these games on the NES, then the SNES, then the GBC/GBA, then Wii VC, then this, then there'll no doubt be 3D Classic NES versions on the 3DS, then they'll release 3D All Stars after that, and how many more versions will there be? I'll save my money for the 3D versions, because at least then we'll be getting a new feature. The only interesting thing about this collection is the soundtrack, but I honestly don't think I'd listen to it, and it looks pretty meager anyway.
They are probably going to release each time for each system. Some people like me dont have all the systems or have each version of the game. I have Mario All Stars on the SNES but my SNES was stolen by a roommate years ago. I also have the original NES cartridges but once again I dont have a NES. Yes I do have them on VC as well but I have always liked the SNES remakes better both graphic wise and sound wise. Plus having them on a disc will allow me to delete them off of my Wii so I have more room for other VC games .

Wait, since when was the CD just three songs and sound effects? Did I miss something?

No, no. My mistake.
But for a 25 year anniversary edition, I still feel it's lacking a little.
1. Super Mario Bros. 2. Super Mario Bros. 2 3. Super Mario Bros. 3 4. Super Mario World 5. Super Mario 64 6. Super Mario Sunshine 7. New Super Mario Bros. 8. Super Mario Galaxy 9. New Super Mario Bros. Wii 10. Super Mario Galaxy 2 11. sound effects
I will buy this because I can see it being a collector's item, but I must admit it's pretty dissapointing. A port of Super Mario All-Stars... that's it? Couldn't they have thrown Mario 64 on there too, or at the very least Super Mario World? Sega really put Nintendo to shame with their Sonic Mega Collection on the Gamecube. Granted that game didn't have a bonus music CD or booklet, but it at least had all Sonic's 16 bit games. Mario, the character that rescued the video game industry, certainly deserves better for his 25th birthday.
Yeah, everyone should have Super Mario World on VC already. Thats probably why they neglected to include it.
And everyone should already have Mario 1 and Mario 3 on the VC already as well, so why not cut those from the release too? If they could fit both All-Stars and World on one SNES cartridge, why not put them both on one Wii disc?
So, now amazon tells me "Unfortunately, an unexpected delay from our supplier may prevent us from delivering some items in your order...". So, game delay? Or just that their initial supply won't cover all pre-orders, and because I chose Super Saver shipping, I'm lower on the priority list and will need to wait for a later shipment? (possibly an extra week or so. Oh well, I chose it because I'm not in a rush to play it.)

It's most likely the latter (their initial supply is limited, and you're lower-priority). That'll happen with Amazon on any sort of orders, not just games.

Everyone should already have 1 and 3 on the VC, yes, but those aren't the All-Stars versions. Super Mario World didn't have an All-Star version...it was the same Super Mario World that was released separately, and which is already available on the VC.
Like it or not, there's still logic to Nintendo's decision. If you want the originals, you can buy them on the VC. If you want the All-Stars versions, you can buy them on disk.
