I can't tell whether this is a funny joke-post making fun of people who go on about graphics.. or whether you are one of those people.. i can't tell at all.. if "the lighting isn’t true hdr with ray casting enabled" is serious then i just.... don't even know what to think..

Lol don’t worry, it’s sarcasm.

People who know me even a little bit know I’m always an advocate of letting go of the technicalities and enjoying art for what it is. Yet, varying per community, people get lost on the pixels and the polygons and whatnot. Nintendolife usually is more about the games than about the technology, which I like.

If something doesn’t match specifics that doesn’t mean it isn’t well executed. Anyone with half a brain would know xenoblade looks great and has huge potential. Specifics don’t matter, what matters is the quality of execution and my oh my, this is shaping up to be amazing.

Mah m7, everything on the gamecube's trash, ent it? It's like one big 480p escort quest.

Definitely play Vesperia and both Symphonia games first. Xillia wasn't amazing. The combat was fine, as always, but the story was confused and shallow at best (analogy). Granted I only played the first 40 hours -_- Haven't finished it or played Xillia 2.

If I took this advice, I would have never played Vesperia. I dunno how anyone made it through Dawn of the New World.

Also, Graces is kind of interesting because (IMO) it has the best and most fun battle system but worst characters/story in the series. Asbel is possibly the worst protagonist of all time. Playing it is like this great struggle of God and Satan battling for your soul.

Symphonia and Vesperia are the two best though, at least of the ones I've played. I didn't catch any of the PS1 games.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

do we know if this runs at 30fps or 60fps ? im guessing 30fps because of the graphics and the scope of the game but still...

I'd say 30fps with 99% probability. We would've heard otherwise if it was so.
And considering how Xenoblade performed... And that it was capped at 25fps in PAL regions.. Motion interpolation here I come!

Almost definitely 30fps. There's really no need for 60 in a game like this. They'd definitely prioritise resolution and environmental detail ahead of frame rate.

The story was great and the gameplay solid as always? What was the issue? That the original party members didn't level up / manually progress in equipment? They weren't even around for most of the quest. I think DotNW was great because it told a cool new tale while providing closure for that world.

It can be 4K but the Wii U is not equipped with HDMI 2.0. It doesn't matter though, because my TV is 720p. So 1080P is good enough.

It probably will be, but expecting that in the immediate future is silly. People rage at PS4 because it's not in 4k, I mean really XD.

I'm actually one of the few people that liked DotnW aswell. However, I can't blame anyone for not liking it. The "love story" between Emil and the girl was so freaking annoying and those after battle scenes ... disgusting. It felt like the love story some 6 year old girl would come up with. Other than that the game was pretty good. Tenebrae and Richter are 2 awesome characters and I liked the monster taming aspect. I spend so much time training my monsters to the point that I felt they were even stronger than me. I enjoyed DotNW actually more than Xilia and Graces f.

On topic: I'm currently playing through Xenoblade Chronicles. I bought the game 3 years ago but I got bored with it after like 5 hours in and never touched it again ... until now. I'm now 18 hours in and the game feels like a drug, it's so addicting. The setting is amazing, the visuals are awesome (especially the draw distance), the combat is fast paced and skill based and the story is really interesting (even though a bit confusing). The only thing I don't enjoy as much is the running. It's okay if you're exploring an area for the first time, but if you intend to revisit an area it feels like a drag. I'm really looking for the Dolls in XCX, they will make traveling way more enjoyable

I really liked the love story. It felt natural and less overblown, even if all of the post-battle scenes are cheesy. And that ending... I thought it was done very well.

Tales? In the XBX thread?

...Get out.

OK, to be fair, I really enjoyed Tales of Eternia (nostalgia) and Tales of the Abyss (best thematic cohesion/main character development/Tear is S-Class anime waifu...lol), but the rest just felt terribly mediocre to me (I played all of them up to Vesperia/DotNW). Xenoblade converted to a different brand of JRPG that filled a void that Tales couldn't left by the souring Final Fantasy brand.

I mean, there isn't anywhere else I can talk about old JRPGs so shrug. Anyway, Xenoblade doesn't come out for literally half a year, this thread can handle the traffic

Symphonia and Vesperia are two of the best JRPGs outside of the SNES/PS1 era and a cut above the rest of the series, IMO.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

Tales of the Abyss 3D was amazing. Man, I wished Nintendo had more Tales support.

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

Unfortunately the Namco Bandai devs don't seem interested in making their games more efficient or maximizing the power of the hardware. Zesteria looks old even for the PS3.

Really? I completely disagree. Abyss is by far my least favorite in the series (among the 4 I've played). By the end of the game, Guy was the only character that didn't annoy me. Tear was too bossy and uptight, Jade was an ass (it was funny for the first 20 minutes, then it wore thin), Anise had this really forced cutesy attitude, Natalia was annoyingly prissy, Asch was unjustifiably mad, regardless of what people did to appease him, and Luke was a whiny brat for the first half.

Luke got better in the second half, but his development felt incredibly forced, and almost instantaneous to a point. He also felt the need to beat over your head the problem he was stuggling with (a lot of JRPGs do that, but Luke is particularly bad)

Then there is the matter of the game completely wasting the entire concept of an overworld.

I like Xenoblade, but its characters really feel like empty husks compared to Tales characters. You never feel like each character has a distinctive personality trait that influences most of their actions and dialogue in the story, so characterizations like "Shulk is a nerd, Dunban is a brave hero" feel really shallow.

Currently Playing: Steamworld Heist, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Tales of Graces F
