Aren't the three screenshots exactly the same? I cannot see any quality difference between them.
Take the WiiU pic and one of the other two pics up in a seperate tab and quickly flick between the two. You'll notice change in lightning, particle effects and surface-scattering.
That's all I can tell from them at least. I'm not all that knowledgeable.
Of course, because it is an image in movement (cutscene or similar) and the screenshots are taken in slightly different times, but the quality is the very very very same in all of them, I would say in this case the difference is an absolute 0.
Yeah. That was predictable. As for the Wii U VS PS4 & Xbox 720, I'm not so optimistic. EDIT: Yep, it looked better. Only by a marginal amount though. Still, I bet next-gen hardware doesn't have as much to improve on. Mainly framerates, world sizes, particle effects, & destructibility. I'm betting there's little to improve on texture-wise, though Skyrim showed me there's still improvement needed. Just take a closer look at the brick, etc. on that game.
Here's a thought, what if the WiiU isn't showing its true graphical power, you know like every other Nintendo system before it, the best graphical DS games came near or after 2010

Yea, but I think this thread was just put up to try and dispel the rumors that are still going around that the Wii U wont be that powerful.
That's exactly why I made it. Not as a claim that the Wii U is leaps and bounds ahead of the 360/PS3 (although I think it probably is) but just a way to quiet the claims that it's underpowered. It's clearly doing more in that screenshot than the PS3/360, it's not doing it at 2fps and this is with a launch title so it's fairly safe to say that it's more capable.
As for why it matters.... cross platform support. Watch Dogs and GTA. There are games coming to the PS3 and 360 and it'd be nice to see them on the Wii U. Given that the Wii U is more capable it seems highly likely that that will happen for at least as long as the PS3 and 360 are supported. This gives the Wii U at least a couple of years of AAA third party support, more if it can stay within reach of the PS4/720 which we currently have no idea where they sit in terms of performance.

It doesn't really affect to me. Wow, the Wii U is just a little bit more powerfull than consoles released 7 years ago! Well, it was predictable that the Wii U is going to be the weakest console if Sony and Microsoft release a new one. It's about the games I guess, but the improvements are, well, small.

@Terave
To be fair they also have a PC screenshot there that's running at 1080p and it's fairly hard to tell the difference between it and the Wii U screenshot. Extra jaggies on the Wii U a lower resolution sure but not a massive difference in detail. And the PC version has basically unlimited power at that resolution compared to even what the PS4/720 will likely have so.... it's hard to judge the "amount" of better that the Wii U has or doesn't have from this "test".
As I've said, this thread was just a "well it's definitely better than the PS3/360 that's for sure!" thing.

So the Wii U is better than the PS3/360 because one random screen shot from some random game happened to have a little less blurriness on the Wii U shot? Well okay.
According to the Japanese Nintendo Direct going on right now, it looks like Wii U will come in 8 GB and 32 GB. Maybe it will be different for NA and EU though.
No idea about Sony, but what MS seems to have planned for 720 seems to be quite above (and different) from classical 360 games: http://uk.ign.com/articles/2012/09/12/microsoft-working-on-im...
Not that I'm very tempted with the peripheral projections, or everything in 3D idea, but the fact is that all of that will require a massive rendering power. PS4 might be a disrruptive system as well and we might end having like two independent gaming revolutions at the same time with the WiiUPS360 left there for "classical" gaming.

and managed a similar framerate with a higher level of detail in the textures despite being ripped from a gameplay trailer rather than directly from the source. Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying

the wii u one has noticeably better textures. you can see the individual stitches in the shirt fabric on the guys near the camera and the engravings on the altar in the back are much clearer and more detailed. you can make out small details more easily at a distance, like the individual coils on the ropes or bumps on the statue near the fire.
it's not a big difference, but this is a comparison of a game made late in a console generation to a port of a game on a new system. this is about the worst case comparison for the wii u's graphics, but it still comes out on top.
What I see in the tower scene is that it is a different scene, it doesnt even have the same objects, look at the structures (similar to a castle) to the left of the tower and these to the right, for these in the WiiU there is very little/shadow effects for them, the shape and distribution is different. For the PS360 the distant objects are "smoothered" more than for the WiiU, most of the light sources in the lower area are also missing for the WiiU or replaced by a weird purple bubble.
Have to comment,
Sony has stated that they are neither looking to be the first nor the cheapest in the next round. So they are probably looking to make a powerhouse that's going to be able to run something like that Square-Enix FF demo.
On the other hand, the next X-Box will be consumer friendly multimedia device that is targeted to be the center-piece for the living room, so it won't be too powerful, because it can't be too expensive!
A rule of thumb: More power, a higher price.
I'm very satisfied with Wii U's ''slightly better than'' visuals/power if the industry is. The ever higher development prices and times are madness.
