In my opinion the PS3 (I think) and PC version is better no matter how many graphical improvements are made.
Why?
PhysX.
What? Anything can emulate PhysX with its CPU. You don't need hardware acceleration. But yes, PC will always look better. PS3 can't touch a good PC, hell, even a $350 PC for 720p gaming (which is what the PS3 is limited to save for a few games). Ever seen Crysis 2 on consoles? Looks like feces. Ever seen it on a good PC? Looks amazing.
Lots of censorship here...

I didn't know it could be emulated with a CPU. Maybe AMD will come out with an equivalent if they haven't already.
PC gaming will always be better (graphics wise) because new hardware is constantly being developed and tested.
It's a nightmare to keep up with it though, for a wallet that is.

All processors are "the same" more or less it's just that some are more specialised than others. You could through software run graphics type processes on a CPU and more general purpose processes on a GPU and it'd work alright just not optimally. Infact a "PhysX" processor is not that different if any different at all to a GPU AFAIK.

Definitely true infact I'd go even further than that. I'd argue that if the spec console gaming is aiming for is around 30-60fps with a very high level of detail with minimal AA/AF at 720p a fairly average mid range gaming PC is already there. The difference between a fairly standard gaming machine and a very high end gaming machine these days is how well it can maintain a reasonable framerate at high levels of detail with multiple monitors and full AA/AF.
If you're not into multiple screens, don't have 4k, don't mind the jaggies so much and don't do 120Hz (which is you if you're a console gamer!) then even the Wii U is probably enough power.
Personally, as long as the Wii U can be up to par with the PS360 graphical capabilities in making good looking games then i'm fine. I don't think that the PS4 or Xbox 720 will be a huge leap above the Wii U simply because the jump from SD to HD has already been made and with the technology now you can only go so high.

true graphics are reaching the limits soon (10-20 yearsi guess...)

Yeah, it's not as fast as hardware acceleration (a PPU or Nvidia GPU that supports it) because more strain is put on the CPU. The DS doesn't have a dedicated graphics chip in it, it emulates it via one of its CPUs.
The jump from HD to 4K is a bg one. And more powerful hardware doesn't just effect graphics.
4k is useless for 99% of the people
for now
Unless if you're watching on a TV screen the size of a movie theater's, it is useless.
Also, if the WiiU wasn't more powerful than something released 7 years ago by a competitor, they'd have quite a huge problem. I don't think most were expecting this to be less powerful than current consoles.
Best thread ever

Yea, but I think this thread was just put up to try and dispel the rumors that are still going around that the Wii U wont be that powerful.
Aren't the three screenshots exactly the same? I cannot see any quality difference between them.
Take the WiiU pic and one of the other two pics up in a seperate tab and quickly flick between the two. You'll notice change in lightning, particle effects and surface-scattering.
That's all I can tell from them at least. I'm not all that knowledgeable.
like i always have just wil have ps4 and wii u sorry i don't buy a xbox not enough differences for me to buy it yet....and i find 2 consoles good enough+ the handhelds
