Topic: Wii U and Multiplayer

So now we have specs on how the Wii U is going to work as far as controllers go. We have backwards compatibility with all Wii accessories (Remote, nunchuck, classic controller/pro, balance board, etc.) but no Gamecube compatibility. As far as the new controller goes, it's looking like right now they're sticking with just one, but extra ones and 3DS compatibility might become prospects in the future. We've seen glimpses of evolving multiplayer such as Chase Mii and the Baseball and Golf demos. What do you guys think as far as the future of multiplayer on the Wii U is concerned. MMOs... Sorry, that's my biggest Wii multiplayer dream.

Well, there is video-chat coming. Apart from that, I'm only going to guess 3DS co-operative play and Wii U downloadable multiplayer mini-games, some maybe even using A.R..

Slightly veering off multiplayer, maybe we can even have online digital game-trading with other players if there's WiiUWare coming to the system. Trade one for another, instead of just paying for another game in the shop.

Lots of two-player, not so much four-player.

Hmm... maybe video chatting with a person on the controller's screen while you are playing a game with them online on the TV?

I'm pretty okay.

The Wii also has local multiplayer....

This is a signature.

I doubt the Wii U will have no friend codes. The 3DS had one friend code, and one only. That only came out 3 months ago. If Nintendo had totally given up on friend codes, they would have got rid of them then and there with the 3DS, but they didn't. Well, at least you won't have to trade one for every single game. And voice chat sounds like a possibility.

Good "old" days. Well, I must have been hallucinating while playing local with 4 friends games like Super smash bros brawl, New super mario bros and Mario kart Wii

Mufti-player in my book is key to success for Wii-U
I am still not sold on the screen controller idea and think it may be a big mistake for Nintendo
First only one controller has a screen this is very lame.
I would have rather had the Wii-U capable of connecting to an Ipad and other book-pads, smart-phones and use them as controllers.
Or wait here is an idea that should have been there even for the Wii why not use the DS, DSi, and 3DS as controllers!
and even better to be able to display my DS, DSi, 3DS screen to the Wii-U.
Nintendo, I hope you know what you are doing.
I for one will be waiting and in no rush to run out and get a Wii-U which just happens to rhyme with pew.
I just do not see anything in Wii-U that says "I got to have that!"

If a video game has no console does it really exist?

They didnt say that there would only be support for one for sure and they have talked about using the ds as a controller.

As long as it's at least on par with Xbox Live or Steam, I'm happy!
