With the upcoming release of Mariokart 8 and the new Mariokart Wii online weekends on Nintendolife, I've been remembering some of my favorite Mariokart memories. Which Mariokart game is your favorite and why?

My favorite so far is Mariokart 7, because the online and customization is fantastic.

I would have to say Double Dash, as it was my first one.

You've met with a terrible fate, haven't you?

I loved DD, but I never really played it enough to enjoy it fully.

This is like picking your favorite child to me.

I love the Wii one for its great online and competitive atmosphere.

I love the 64 one because of the nostalgia, best Rainbow Road music and that it still has the best 4-player battle feeling.

I love Double Dash for being amazingly original and having Co-Op racing which significantly better than the arcade Co-op racing.

I love the DS one for introducing Retro tracks.

I love 7 because it somehow knew all my favorite tracks and put them in the retro cups. Customization was an awesome idea, but it was a little sad that if you had inferior parts or liked those parts that it would hinder your performance.

I love the SNES one for being SUPER difficult and creating the series.

And I love the GBA one for bringing the series to portable systems and giving Luigi a hilarious voice.

I haven't played any of them even 1/10th of the amount that I played Super Mario Kart, so I might have to default on that one. However, with the limited experience I have with the others, I would say either Double Dash or 7. Mario Kart 64 is easily my least favorite.

Mario Kart 8
The little I played of it at E3 was fun and I look forward to the rest of it

Also Double Dash

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

"Mario Kart 64". First "Mario Kart" game (I got it 6 years ago). This is home to my favorite "Rainbow Road". Everyone says that "Mario Kart Wii's" "Rainbow Road" is "too hard". No way. "Rainbow Road" for the "NINTENDO 64" is the hardest in the series as it's tests your willpower to go on due to it being a long track. That to me qualifies it to be the most difficult Rainbow Road in the "Mario Kart" franchise (difficult track goes to "Banshee Boardwalk").

Who are you?

sinalefa

I have not played them all, only 1, a bit of 64, Super Circuit and Double Dash, and the one that I have played the most, MK7.

If you notice a pattern there, those are Mario Kart games without Waluigi, except Double Dash. So I would be inclined to declare 7 would be my favorite. I love the graphics, the not so mean AI and the lack of Waluigi and the babies.

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

8 definitely.

The only one I haven't played is Double Dash. So my list would be:

1. Super Mario Kart: For what it is it's fantastic. The AI is broken but I can look past that.
2. Mario Kart 7: The pinnacle of 3D Mario Karts so far. Great online, great tracks
3. Mario Kart Wii: Because the online was pretty solid but the tracks weren't that great
4. Mario Kart DS: Was great for local multi but online was broken. Four races per match with the same people?
5. Mario Kart 64: The only thing it had going for it was 3D and 4 players. Every Mario Kart since has done better.
6. Mario Kart Super Circuit: All it had going for it was that it was portable. It's like a watered down Super Mario Kart.

Most memorable moment:
After what I can only assume was months of playing almost nothing else when I was a kid I got to Rainbow Road in 100CC on Super Mario Kart. I was within reach of Gold and I got there. It was probably the most intense gaming moment I have ever had. The gold was awarded, the credits started to roll, 150CC unlocked. Before I had a chance to have a go at 150CC the power went out

Well... This is a bit of a toughie, for me. I have to separate "favorite" from "best" as I'm of the mind that the games have, for the most part, just gotten better and better. Even so, I don't think I'd prefer to play any MK more than 64. Following that, I'd say Wii and DS are pretty even. Double Dash is next, followed by SMK for being a working entry title, but having the most glaring AI flaws. And finally GBA... nope... can't find one redeeming quality about Super Circuit. It had 40 tracks and I disliked playing all of them because the game just felt painfully broken to me. Maybe I'd been spoiled by how well the last four games worked, but MK (GBA) just never seemed like a good game, to me.

As for 7 and 8, I love them both, but as I've not played through either of them, I can't push a fair judgement.

A nifty calendar (Updated 9/13/15)
The UGXloggery ... really needs an update.

Mario Lart Wii. Only other one I've played is MK64.

Double Dash.
Though MK8 might take the crown from Double Dash.
