It can be bought on the VC for 10 bucks, and it isn't the best game ever made, so there's very little incentive to buy it for $40.

Hey, just like OoT.
I love how you ignored part of my post.
Here's the difference: http://www.gamerankings.com/browse.html
OoT is the most critically acclaimed game ever made, and it is still able to hold up to a $40 pricetag. Especially since Ocarina of Time on 3DS added the Master Quest, something many people had yet to play since it only came in as a Wind Waker incentive, and added features that advanced the gameplay (like making the iron boots an item). Not so much with Star Fox 64.
Star Fox 64 3D didn't do that. It added no single player content whatsoever and took away the original multiplayer and replaced it with something else. That's it. No online leaderboards, no online multiplayer, very little incentive to get medals on the worlds, and the like.

I wouldn't mind an Assault like game as long as the non-Arwing controls are actually good. Rip off the controls for Kid Icarus Uprising if they have to, at least those controls eventually end up as a good thing.
But I'd prefer a Command sequel. The Wii U is perfect for strategy games, it's a sequel to a DS game, and is the only Star Fox game after 64 that's fairly well liked. Just expand on the strategy game part, make the game maps much larger and put in some classic 3d shoot-em-up levels and you could have an amazing game.
I'm sure they won't skip Metroid for the Wii U like they did back in the N64 but I wonder if they are going to make a new series or make a sequel for an existing one.
