Topic: The PS4 Has Officially Outsold the Wii U In 2/3 Markets.

It's kind of weird that PS4 sells so well, since it's got barely no games. I guess the marketing hype and overly positive media reaction has succeeded in it's case. I wonder how it would fare if we'd see a "PS4 is doomed" article every week, like in the case of Wii U.

@Super_Gravy I guess because the other consoles interest me more for some reason

I made Sheldon & Mr. Randoms back on Flipnote Hatena, now i'm a kangaroo mod that has a funko pop collection!

I'm not keen politics since that stuff is spooky, I'd rather watch SpongeBob over Fox News anyways!

I don't have a job, which means I have no money. So even if I did want a PS4 I couldn't get one.

@Super_Gravy
My reasoning is lack of Move or PS Eye support in games. I know people give crap about positive opinions on those peripherals, but it's a legitimate reason to steer clear.

Also, Infamous and Killzone are kind of like Assassin's Creed and any other 1st person shooter out there. Killzone SF doesn't even support the Move controller or 3D, while KZ3 did. They're working backwards.

Then there's all the hype for Resogun."OMG, it's the best arcade game in America!". That game was only put on PS4 to artificially raise the value of the purchase. That game could have easily been on PS3, and it probably would have been if their account system applied from 7th to 8th gen.

It doesn't have BC, so every PSN purchase you have made, or will make on PS3 is useless. In that case, the account system didn't so anything for actual content.

It can't support external HDDs, and PSN goes down on a regular basis sometimes.

@Gravy! The Price. I barely got my mom convinced to buy a WiiU this christmas (if Im lucky) being it $300. $100 more is just too much.

This doesn't surprise me one bit, but I'm still resistant to the PS4. I haven't even bought a Playstation since the PS2 and I wasn't exactly too happy with that system. PS3 had some excellent games, Demon Souls.. umm.. Uncharted I guess? All the other games I liked on it were 3rd parties and I never owned one so I never got a chance to play Ni No Kuni or The Last of Us, so that sucks. I've been very tempted to buy one recently especially with Dark Souls 2 on the way.

As far as the PS4 goes, there isn't any games that really catch my interest aside from Deep Down.. maybe The Division or Rainbow Six whenever that comes out. Honestly, a lot of the games coming out for XBO and PS4 look really similar (as far as the first/third person shooters go). I'm not saying I'd never get one, but there needs to be a bigger, more enticing library then what's coming right now. I don't think I can ever justify paying more than $300 for a system at the moment anyway.. just don't have that kind of cash to spend unfortunately. If I did I'd probably just upgrade my PC instead.

@Faron You hit the nail on the head. They have REALLY over-hyped the system and it has worked. My best friends brother bought one and that shocked me because he's always been a big Xbox dude. Same goes for another friend of mine.. he's a fan of Infamous though. You really never see negative articles about Sony on sites like IGN or Gamespot, either. Nintendo tends to get picked on whenever possible.

I'll be getting a PS4 when Final Fantasy XV comes out. At least the PS4 doing well ensures that it'll eventually have more games I'll be interested in.

I got my PS4 on the NA launch date. I have to say I am really enjoying it and glad I went back to Sony this gen. I do have a Wii U for the Nintendo exclusives but honestly since getting my PS4 I haven't touched my Wii U.

I'm not getting a PS4 because I don't see how it's worth the money. I can't play PS3 games (I don't care about PSNow because that is going to be awful. streaming games won't work as well as Sony thinks it will. they should have just made it BC like the Wii, Wii U, PS2, and early PS3s) which is sad because I had a Wii last gen, so I missed out on all of those titles. Oh well. I also don't see the point in spending $400 on a system with only a few games people truly enjoy and other games available on last-gen consoles for the same price. I have a Wii U, so I can play Call of Duty Ghosts and Assassin's Creed IV, the best PS4 games by the way. And if I wanted those games on a different console for some reason, I'd play them on the PS3 I already had or would have gotten at some point.

Just to show where I'm coming from here (WARNING: PROBABLY A LOT OF TEXT COMING UP), I had a PlayStation as my first console. After that, I upgraded to the PS2. Had fun with both consoles. Also, I loved the backwards compatibility. Playing my favorite PS1 games on my PS2 was brilliant. I was going to upgrade to the PS3, but Sony had to make that thing $600 dollars, so I couldn't afford it. With the money I was able to save up, I got a Wii. Great thing about the Wii? Since I didn't have the previous console, it was great that I could play the games from it and get "caught up" in a sense. I loved the Wii, DS, and 3DS, so why not get the Wii U? Great thing? Backwards compatibility! I don't have to keep swapping inputs if I want to play Twilight Princess or Xenoblade! And since I mentioned it... I could play my GBA games on my DS and my DS games on my 3DS. Just about every system I've owned has been backwards compatible and for the newer systems like the Wii U and 3DS, I can still dip into the older library of games when there's a drought between releases. With the PS4, I can't do that. Not only that, but there's nothing new or exciting to make me want one. The GamePad (say what you will) is a different way of playing. It's like a giant DS; and I loved the DS. Thinking of all the interesting ways I could play games with the GamePad was exciting to me! The PS4... has that touchpad... thing...? That's kinda cool... And the graphics are better...? At this day and age, graphics aren't enough to sell your system on (although it apparently is for the PS4), you need interesting game ideas as well. In my opinion, the GamePad can offer this and when it's not, it still gives me a different way to play games than if I played them on my Wii. The DualShock 4 and DualShock 3 allow for essentially the same gaming experience. That's not a bad thing, but the touchpad doesn't have enough going for it (and it probably never will) to make me want to drop $400 to see what the fuss is about. And from the people I know that have a PS4 (who haven't touched it in a month and a half, I might add), they aren't really impressed by it either. And they were done gawking over the graphics once they realized their PCs were nearly as capable with a more varied gaming library.

So... TL;DR, I don't see a reason to buying a PS4 yet. If I ever decide to get one, it will be long after the hype dies down and the games are available.

I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.
I used to own a GBC, PS2, and DS Lite

I'll be getting a PS4 when Kingdom Hearts 3 releases. Now for those wondering why the PS4 is selling well despite no games is because its riding on the positive wave of the PS3 while not being prohibitively expensive as the PS3 was on release...... People are expecting PS4 would continue to have high quality first party titles and third party support as the PS3 did in its later year...... it doesn't always work this way, (look at the N64) but I dunno this time I think early adopters are right and PS4 would be a better PS3......

And the 3DS is all like "Come on bro, pick up the pace, show them what you got. And maybe, just maybe, you'll be as awesome as me one of these days!!!!!"

The 3DS at the very least is doing fine.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I agree with you on Resogun it could perfectly be on PS3 or even Vita and it is just PS4 exclusive because they need it to be... Now its true is not backwards compatible and most of your PS3 purchases count for nothing on PS4, but at least they gave the Sony published indie titles such as flower basically for free to everyone who already had them on PS3 through cross-buy.... which may not be much but its something.....

You mean for maintenance? anyone that owns a PlayStation should already know that doesn't effect online play.

Sony's well known for supporting there consoles, where as Nintendo not so much. When you think about it BC is a bit of a false future why? because I can tell you now Wii U 2 will not play Wii games, which mean BC is a gen long not for life or didn't Nintendo point this out? some how I think thay already have, eShop.

Infamous & AC are not like any other FPS out there, because thay are not FPS.

I think many find it odd because many conservative consumers don't buy something EXPECTING it to become great. If you think about it that way it's kind of odd why the PS4 is doing so well. I mean I have faith in Nintendo as a company but I don't buy their hardware until there is software to support the purchase. Besides, waiting for the games you want on any system may also get you a cheaper price. I didn't get the Wii U until their was 50 dollar price cut and 3D Mario World, Wonderful 101 and Wind Waker HD came out. The only people I know who next-gen systems bought them to play Call of Duty/Battlefield and sports games. That's probably what their whole library will consist of anyway.

The library is just very lack luster on the PS4. I do find the system to be more intriguing and more reliable then Xbox One (which I will never pay full price for) , and I will get it down the line, but there seriously is nothing out there for me yet. Even though I have Xbox One, I have to say it has a better library than PS4 so far.

No. I'm talking about the Store being down and PSN generally being pretty crappy in comparison to Xbox Live. I had both, and my Xbox 360 always went online easier. I know that doesn't specifically apply to 8th gen, but it does effect my opinion.

You didn't read that other part right, I was comparing Killzone to any other FPS, and Infamous to Assassin's Creed. I worded it correctly, so I don't get how you misunderstood.

Why do people say I'm not spending £400 on a console with hardly any games? I bet some how you didn't say the same as you got your Wii U, or are you just not going to buy any games for 7-8 years?

to be fair the Wii U had better exclusives at launch than the PS4, but even the 3DS sold over a Million at launch, and its launch lineup was possible the worst out of any major console release... so for every console there are at least a number of people that are willing to buy it on potential alone even if it'll make more sense to wait until the games arrive and price drop.. However those early adopters who overpay for things at launch even if they are not worth it at the moment are necessary because without them no console would ever get off the ground
