Side by side the Xbox One is incredibly underwhelming. Even the Wii U has better exclusives coming out until June
Either way it's more games. The Wii U has 8 upcoming games according to Metacritics coming until june. I'm glad you like those games more, but more support is more support, and even a bad game's bound to please somebody. So long as you have a steady stream of games with no real drought, things are bound to stay relatively steady.
How about justifying the decision to use the gamepad as the controller for the Wii U?
They've yet to do it imo. They have some decent ideas but its not a must have for any of their 1st party games. Hell, Retro didnt even bother with their newest game, Tropical Freeze. I think 3rd parties have used it better than they have (ZombiU, Rayman Legends, TW101, etc). Which is odd considering that there were 2 screens with the DS and NIntendo worked with developers to utilize it in its earlier years.
Making commercials that show off the benefits of the gamepad would really help too. As it stands right now 3rd parties aren't using it that creatively now since it costs more to implement something cool in a game and I cant really blame them. Why use it if Nintendo isnt really going to?
Four more months until Bayonetta 2.

So I know this thread is about making a GamePad Mini but the topic says "The Answer to Nintendo's GamePad Dilemma"
I have to ask, does Nintendo have a GamePad Dilemma?
Last I heard the GamePad was the last of their "Dilemmas"
If you think Nintendo is happy with their Wii U sales, then there is no dilemma. But, I can assure you they are not - and since the Gamepad is the most significant aspect of the console, then yes I would say they have a Gamepad dilemma.

I would say they have a Game, Marketing, and Image Dilemma, not a GamePad Dilemma.
The GamePad is a solid piece of Hardware. The GamePad is a part of the system much like... well the system. Saying they have a GamePad Dilemma would be like saying they have a Wii U Dilemma
The only way this will really help Nintendo is if going forward the smaller version is the only version. Plus i don't really see it saving them all that much more. Not enough to drop the price significantly enough to draw people in. A 30$ price cut for a smaller control pad will not sell as well and then you will have the same problem as launch with the basic! If Nintendo did this then maybe they could be taken seriously, 500gig system with Mario Kart! For some reason people seem to like those big numbers. How many people on the outside laughed at 32gigs then alone 8gigs. We are trained that bigger is better. If you do what i said above and price it at 400$ it will fly off the selves! Why, i don't even know!
So yes what i'm saying is the Wii U needs more options and a price increase! If they had done this from day one maybe more core gamers would've taken them seriously! Plus advertize the bloody thing for crying out loud!!

It doesn't necessarily follow. It's like saying the Dreamcast's problem was the VMU, the 3DS' problem was 3D, the PS3's problem was Blu-Ray or the Gamecube's problem was the cube shape. That any change to those things would instantly result in success. It's not that simple.
So while I'm not against this revision idea and I don't think it would necessarily hurt (unlike the other "grand idea") I don't think it's the problem. Really the problem with the Wii U is that people are looking elsewhere. If Nintendo wants sales they need to get them hyped about games. If they're not hyped about games then there's no point.
........... plus it's not like the original DS either, the GamePad is actually a decent piece of hardware. The original DS looked cheap, the DS Lite was and still is a thing of beauty. I can't see what they could do to the Wii U GamePad to achieve the same. If they are going to revise that's the direction they'll have to go. But games first.
