saw a post on another forum how the wii unwilling be different in relation too the other systems mostly Microsoft.

And online too. I can fully see why MS just don't care. They are taking different routes. MS is heading towards an entertainment hub with great online experienc, TV, Kinect etc. No way can Nintendo compete on that level, and they probably don't want to. Nintendo will do solid gaming as always, while dipping their feet into some modern online features etc as they are doing with the 3DS. I would be very surprised if they tried to tackle media on the level MS seems to be.

Even Reggie said today at CES that Nintendo aren't competing with them and are doing their own thing.

Can't the RegMyster at least confirm weather Wii U games will be either 1080p or 720p? Maybe it's up the developers, based on how much power is being used, or maybe we won't see 'any' 1080p games due to the extra power being sent to the Wii U controller's screen, that's IF it requires more power.

Also, Linear 6.1 surround sound was confimed. Is that Dolby Digital or DolbyTrue HD/ DST Master HD sound?

I don't think Nintendo was ever really competing with other companies.
They're just making games they hope we'll enjoy. It's what they do best.

lol Nobody can on a '32"' dude. Boost it up to 50" and you'll beable to tell....Seating distance obviously matters as well.
I'll be rocking a 50 - 56" 1080p HDTV for the Wii U a month before it's release, and at 9 -10 feet away the 1080p will probably be noticable at that size.

If you went from a 32" to even a 42" you'd be in awe. :p
And for the Wii U, i'll be going from my 42" to a 50"- 56" That size isn't just for gaming, it's for Bluray/DVD's. The bigger the screen the better for film bud! Same deal with gaming, makes for a much more immersive and wow-worthy experience! B-)

I tend to agree...oh wait, this is a Wii U topic. In all seriousness, I'll be interested in the Wii U when games I want are announced for it. All Reggie did was blow more hot air. ;)

I think you mean 'trucks' ;)
Only girls and dorm room college students game on tiny TV's muhaha. Nahhh, to each their own. I've gone from 27, 32 and now 42" and i can never go back. The smaller tv's are great for retro consoles though and anything VC related. But i just don't 'get' how somebody could play Metroid Prime for example on a tiny 32" HDTV....it just destroys any sense of immersion. And now that 1080p is here, to actually get that advantage you'd have to really be going 50" and up.

But eh, to each their own, it's whatever makes you happy. B-)

Choice one for sound I believe, but it also depends on your tv speakers. As for the graphics, they have confirmed 1080p, indirectly, but it is confirmed to have 1080p output, while the controllers are also 16:9, their output is 480p.

I knew Nintendo wouldn't opt for DTS HD Master or Dolby True HD, yet you can bet your mega buns that the PS4 and XBOX 720 will support both. Some PS3 games already do in fact support DTS HD Master. And while it would be awesome to have that for the Wii it's not that big of a deal. Dolby Digital is still leaps better than the Wii's Dolby Pro Logic II so I'm perfectly happy with that. B-)

And the 1080p was confirmed as being 'supported' by the system, but not the actual games being native in that res?

I mean if you're gaming on anything less than a 50" and sitting at around 9 feet for example, then 720p Wii U games being upscaled to 1080p should look great regardless. Noticing that extra detail might be tough anyways. As long as you have 720p selected in Wii U's menu, then your 1080p HDTV should scale it perfectly anyways, I'm guessing. :p
