@Sample_Text: People want to make long levels, and 500 seconds won't cut it. You can run out of time in the Metroid U level if you don't know what you're doing.

This game also needs checkpoints, so that in long levels, we don't have to start all the way at the beginning if you die.

I dot know why people are compaining anout 500 seconds, that's 7 minutes. Quite a lot of time.

I don't know if they are real seconds or "Mario seconds". Nevertheless, time limits often were useless and I would prefer an infinity option.

@gaming_24_7: For some reason, they're real seconds in SMM so hey, at least you get to spend more time in levels here than you would in other 2D Mario games.

Nintendo Treehouse is hosting a livestream of Super Mario Maker on 9/10 at 3 pm PT. It's a level design workshop and they're letting Twitch chat have influence on the design decisions.

Does Mario Maker follow the rules of the Mario series when it comes to power-ups? If you are normal Mario and a block gives a Power Up, then it is a Mushroom Power Up. If you are Super Mario the same block could give you a Fire Flower instead. Or does it just give you the Fire Flower (or any other Power-Up you choose) no matter what Mario you are?

I hope that made sense.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

From what I've seen, it does this.
...And that bugs me a bit. I don't think there's a way to change it to the Mario standard.

Disappointing, but understandable. Also, do you know if the Creator of the level has to complete the level naked (without power-ups) before they upload it or can they make a level that requires certain power-ups at certain times?

@DefHalan: The creator just has to beat the level before they upload it, no other special condition.
So yeah, they'll be levels where a certain power-up is needed to complete the level.

The level just has to be completed, so you can make it where you need a certain powerup to win and still upload it.

I'm concerned, my Super Mario Maker bundle from the Nintendo UK Online Store hasn't been dispatched yet and the game comes out in just over 2 days.

What the power-up thing? Yeah that sucks...maybe an update will bring that in, or the sequel, who knows.

@DefHalan

Why is that disappointing, look at the Metroid level that was created, that wouldn't be possible without the mandatory power ups.

The only real disappointment so far is the time restrictions.

...and no Snake Block things. TwT I mean we still have the tracks, but...the Snake blocks are more unpredictable because you can't tell where they're going.

@Darth_Vader: Disappointing because it isn't following rules set in the Mario games. Super Mario Maker is following its own rules and because of these rules, there will be levels where if you don't do everything perfect you can reach a point where you cannot finish the level. I haven't seen the Metroid level you speak of but I thought amiibo mushrooms were just skins. Do they add special abilities too?

Agreed with @DefHalan, I saw a level that's impossible to beat if you wasted a P-switch or a Koopa shell. In a real Mario game, if you wasted a P-switch, you could go through a door and it would refresh.
