I wouldn't mind a Super Crash Bros (See what I did there?), though. If Link is driving a Kart, I'd just deal with it.
If it's made by Sakurai (Maker of Smash), I'd be all for it. He's really good when it comes to making... Well, I'm not sure what he's exactly good at, but if you look at Smash and Kid Icarus: Uprising, he did a really good job when (I don't want to say making a competitive game, because he doesn't want that for Smash, and with that I assume he doesn't want that for any of his games, but I'll say it anyways since I don't know what would be better to say) it comes to making a game competitive. When I heard Kid Icarus: Uprising was made by Sakurai, I knew what I was getting into. You guys may or may not know what I am talking about.
But yeah, if they are going to invite characters in outside of the Mario 'verse, it'd feel like a "Super Crash Bros.", you know?

I also have a 3DS and Wii U.
I'm hoping for a deeply expanded online component for communities. I loved how Mario Strikers Charged would take your online points system like in real soccer and put you higher on a league that would rest every month. Some way to do that in Mario Kart U communits would be awesome.
I'm expecting this game to get a hefty chuck of post game DLC.

I'm thinking E Gadd would fit nicely into this series.

If you mean because it's not understandable, then I don't see a problem. How does King Boo talk again? Oh wait, he doesn't. He just makes random sounds. Same with DK, Bowser, etc. E Gadd could just use random gibberish and no one would know the difference.
Besides, even the human characters don't exactly have stellar voice work in the series. Rosalina sounds kind of monotone at best in a creepy way, Toadette in Mario Kart Wii sounded plain strange and the Miis hurt your ears after two seconds. I wouldn't worry much about it.
I hope there's a way of playing entire Grand Prix with 4 friends so I can complete the game with them. Not many friends of mine had either a Gamecube or a Wii, and that's the same with Wii U. That's why I'm always the clear winner when it comes to multiplayer games, I play them a lot more. We do play together a lot, but being able to complete the game with them we'd be able to grow as fast to keep up with each other!
And what @Sony_70 sad about online play, I too liked that Mario Football league thing a lot. Maybe add competitions like with the mario channel on Wii? I'm a sucker for scoreboards.

I think he'd be hilarious. I'd hope they'd use his "Wah poo! He he he he he" somewhere (my best approximation of the sounds he makes when he presses the button to pixelate Luigi to a mansion).
Never thought I'd love the pink/white 3DS XL ♥

If they do have Elvin be playable, he'd need new voice clips.
All of his current ones have been recycled since his first appearance and some of them wouldn't fit the hectic racing events.
Once a LuigiMan, now a Dreamy representation of the Goddess of Nature.
Retired Palutena Gem Provider. Mario Maker Levels

To be honest, I don't think most of Rosalina's voice clips in Mario Kart Wii or 7 fit hectic racing events. They made her sound like a robot at best.
But new voice clips for Professor E Gadd could be nice to see...
Depends if you consider Donkey Kong a Mario character or not. He's technically his own series you know, and has been ever since before Super Mario Bros 1.
And to some degree... is it really more weird than ROB driving a kart?
Well ROB doesn't really have an established universe so you can get away with putting him anywhere. Donkey Kong has his own series but his origin is the same place as Marios. Something which they gave more than a little bit of a nod to in the intro do Donkey Kong Country
Plus in Super Mario Kart they had DK Jr so it made sense to continue including DK in Mario Kart 64. They had the 3D sprites from RARE, they had a new version of DK that more people understood. Why not include the new DK?
...... but Link? Samus? Fox? That would be unprecedented. That would not be Mario Kart as we know it. The setting and items don't really fit either and frankly the idea of Samus getting into a Kart and throwing bananas is kinda strange. Compared to DK where that's just kinda what DK does.

"Don't stir the pot" is a nice way of saying "they're too dumb to reason with"
Hopefully it won't end up as a crossover between MK and these Sonic racing games as some rumours suggest. Nothing against the blue mammal as an unlockable character though... ^^

I would say that "Super Crash Bros." should be a separate title, but unless there are big differences the idea would seem rather redundant to the MK series.
Instead, forgo non-Mario characters actually being playable. But, have tracks and other features showcasing whatever separate franchise. After all, in MK Wii the Blue Falcon was a kart option. And I've been wanting to race through a Pikmin themed track...

I'm actually pretty interested in how the motion controls will work. I'm sure you all know that motion+ was never incorporated into Mario Kart Wii. Motion+, coupled with the overall better horsepower of the Wii U, will probably make this the best Mario Kart ever.
Standard controllers will obviously be supported, too, but I've recently grown fond of the Wii Wheel, and I can tell the game isn't as good as it could have been w/ motion+.

WebHead, I loved Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing Transformed as well. I do not think that Mario Kart U will top it, however I think it will be comparable in quality.
You guys think Mario Kart U won't beat Sonic Racing? The motion controls will undoubtedly beat Sonic Racing's attempt. Mario Kart Wii is still pretty much just as fun as that game(minus the better graphics), and it's 4 years older.
You can't even use the Mii character online. I like Sonic Racing, but it's pretty much guaranteed Mario Kart U will be better.
