Not to mention that Mario Kart U is made specifically for the Wii U, and doesn't need to be ported to other systems. Hence it'll likely make better use of the system than Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing Transformed.

I want fully customizable weapons because I know they will never actually get rid of the blue shell.
Missions to come back.
I think it would be cool to have like a rival system. In Super Mario Kart, whoever you picked had a clear rival who was always in first. Could tie that in with the missions/challenges.
Character specific weapons like Double Dash would be cool too.
Almost a given but DLC so I'm not sick of the tracks after a year.

You guys think Mario Kart U won't beat Sonic Racing? The motion controls will undoubtedly beat Sonic Racing's attempt. Mario Kart Wii is still pretty much just as fun as that game(minus the better graphics), and it's 4 years older.
You can't even use the Mii character online. I like Sonic Racing, but it's pretty much guaranteed Mario Kart U will be better.

I'm not saying Mario Kart U won't top S&SASRR, I'm just saying that I am curious as to how it is going to do that. MKU will probably use the GamePad just like S&SASRR is and will probably be on par with it in the visuals department as well. I do think it can top S&SASRR, just curious how.

And am I the only one that thinks Nabbit from NSMB U/NSL U is going to be one of the new characters?

@WebHead - As a playable characters? Nah, I don't think so. He could easily make appearances though, whether it be a small cameo or maybe a gimmick in missions.

Oh ya, sorry. I was associating basoongoon's post with yours...
Well, I already mentioned one feature that will be better, which is the motion controls.
I'm sure Nintendo will top the visuals, item use, and basically everything Sonic Racing has to offer. The only way Mario Kart will be possibly worse, is if you like to go faster than regular Mario Kart speeds, but that's not how Mario Kart plays anyway, so it would be pretty foolish to expect anything else.

I'd personally love a return to the Double Dash mechanic, two characters in one kart, both able to hold an item each.

Personally, I don't think the Wii U Mario Kart title will really need to do anything to "top" Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed. I find almost all the Mario Kart games to be better and find Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed a little subpar in general. None of it mechanics are original and it doesn't seem that well executed to me either. I don't like 98% of the racing games I've played though, so maybe I'm not a great person to judge the genre. The only other racing games I like are Night Driver (old Atari game), Mario Kart, and Burnout. I kind of like F-Zero and Kirby's Air Ride, but they aren't that special to me either.

Mario Kart's items, characters and tracks are iconic. It's what everyone thinks of when someone says "kart racer". It's the Blue Shell, lightning bolt, red shells and so on. The imitations are entirely different sorts of games.

It's like with Sony's Smash Bros clone, it copies a lot from Smash Bros but it's not Smash Bros. Outside of the curiosity that surrounded it's launch I don't think it has done very well at all. Just over half a million units even with the high level of publicity and public interest. They made a huge thing about it at E3 if anyone remembers.

Yeah, I agree. There are some Mario Karts that just aren't as good. Mario Kart 7 is a recent example in my eyes (although it's online experience is better executed than Mario Kart Wii's). But I love Mario Kart 64, Mario Kart Double Dash, and Mario Kart Wii and find them far more fun and polished than Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed.

I already gave some examples. Mii characters for online, better graphics, better gameplay, better GamePad use, better Wii remote+ controls, better surround sound(if you played SR in surround sound, you would know. It's kinda bad...), better online, better multiplayer, better items... That's all I'm sure will be better. They could add a track creator and maybe some new characters, too.
Nintendo will make this the best racing game it can be. Just wait until E3. It would be better to wait for E3 to know for sure, instead of asking me why I think that.

I liked the look of this game. Granted to me it look like they borrowed some ideas form Sonic Racing Transformed but I am glad that they brought the bikes back. It looked good and I will probably be getting this one for the Wii U.
