I bought a 3DS for Kingdom Hearts 3D, I never expected KH 3 to come to WII U which is the main reason I never considered buying one....... I would have been incredibly surprised if it had been announced for the Wii U, I'm surprised so many people actually thought the game would come to Wii U, when nintendo home consoles are known for their complete lack of third party support

Exactly. It has nothing to do with power. There is nothing impressive about the game. It could probably run on PS2.

Too early to tell. It's obviously not a technology problem. It's because Wii U for third parties is not very popular now. This should change after Christmas 2013 and then we might hear that the port is coming.

Apparently the game is being built off of what Versus is doing. Wii U could run the game but it would look worse than what that bit of gameplay looked like.

I'm more peeved that we didn't see more Square support from Nintendo. I was really hoping for the Dragon Quest X and Dragon Quest VII to eb announced for localization.

I wish people would stop saying the Wii U can't handle this. The kingdom hearts games have never needed extensive equipment to run. That trailer could have easily been done on Wii U. This is just square-enix being buttholes to nintendo fans.

What reason would they have to single out nintendo fans when they're newest and 2nd biggest franchise are exclusive to nintendo consoles.

@Sony_70 sales of Wii U. Same reason they decided to port Deux Ex Director's Cut to the other consoles.
That's why in effect this is still TBD.

I'll agree sales do play apart in it, but PS4/One haven't sold a single unit yet their getting the next mainline Final Fantasy game (next year?).

Either Wii U can't handle it,or it's because of the Wii U sales.

That's because they're reasoning is that Wii U is not attractive and popular and they're assuming all PS3 and 360 owners will make the switch to the next gen. You have to assume something. It's the same assumption Ubisoft and even EA made about the Wii U. Now they have second thoughts.

I thought about something and it may give some hope to it being on wii u. This isn't the first time a title didn't include nintendo in it like this. Sonic Unleashed did the same thing. When it was first announced, it only said it was for Xbox and PS3, but then, as the game developed, they soon announced the Wii version (even though it wasn't as good). But this time, I think the Wii U is powerful enough that whatever changes they do make, it won't be that drastic. The reason why Wii U probably hasn't been announced for it is because the gameplay will be a lot different, just by adding in the gamepad it's already different, so that'll probably be announced once they get that together so keep the faith nintendo fans!

I'm actually surprised to see it's going to XBOX One. KH has created a stronger fan base in the Nintendo community from all of the side games on GBA/ DS/3DS after all. And I don't believe any arguments people make that Wii U is too weak to handle Kingdom Hearts 3, from what I saw in the new Bayonetta 2 & X trailers, I feel a lot more confident in Wii U's power.

I don't think anyone knows how hard Kingdom Hearts 3 will be pushing the PS4. The trailer looked extremely early in development. I'd guess KH3 is gonna be a Christmas 2015 game, and it could look significantly different by then. However, even if it's not using the full power of the PS4, a game made for that console just isn't going to be easy to port, they're too different.

I can't believe people think these huge companies make decisions on the basis of wanting to 'upset a specific group of fans'. If they could port it to see Wii U as easily as they can to Xbox One, they definitely would, because Xbox One isn't going to sell at all in Japan.

It is indeed disappointing to see Wii U owners not being able to play it. But Square Enix probably have a reason why they didn't do it. It might be because the engine running the game was developed for the competition's PC architecture, making it incompatible with the Wii U without porting it. Porting it costs money, and it's something they probably can't risk doing since the Wii U isn't selling hot as of now. It's best for Square to be in the best financial condition so they can keep developing games for Nintendo handhelds and hopefully Nintendo consoles.

So we just have to accept the reality. Don't know what else to say :/

That was all that needed to be said, honestly.

I'm not disappointed because I totally expected this to happen. As @Peach64 said earlier the power/architecture gap between the PS4/One and the Wii U is bigger than a lot of Nintendo fans thought. I've been saying it since the Wii U was first revealed but the Wii U is stuck in such an odd position. Its stuck between generations being more powerful than the PS3/360 but not really touching One/PS4. Lack f sales means no ports from the current gen games, and lack of power meaning no next gen only games.

Games on PS3 and XBox360 also depreciate in value quickly so people would rather buy them second hand or in the bargain bin. Which essentually means they not worth porting to the Wii U.
So we won't get next gen or current gen games anymore.

Wii U just ain't a primary console, it's more like a 3rd console.

I'm not very disappointed since all of the main KH games have been on a Playstation platform. I'll be honest though, I'm positive PS4 is going to come out on top this generation with Kingdom Hearts III and the massive amount of Microsoft fans switching to Sony.

I really had no expectations of it coming to wii u in the first place, so no wasn't disappointed when wii u was left out.

I wasn't upset at all. KH and KHII were on Sony PS2. I just assumed KHIII would remain on a Sony console.

Also.....I thought Dream Drop Distance was supposed to be KHIII. Oh well, shows what I know.

LasermasterA

Yes, I was definitely disappointed in this news as I expected Disney to support Nintendo as it usually does, and also the fact that Xbox One has no KH fanbase while Nintendo still has a considerably large one through handheld KH tie-ins (I was introduced to KH by 358/2 days, an awesome game, that is why I prefer Roxas over Sora anyday). Disney is even releasing its own "Planes" title exclusively on Wii U!

Seeing the trailers of Bayonetta 2 and X, I have no doubt that the Wii U is powerful, very powerful. Obviously not as powerful as Xbox One and PS4, but still more comparable than the Wii vs. the Xbox 360 and PS3. Looking at Square Enix releasing Deus Ex on other consoles as well, I think the issue here is not about power but about porting costs and sales.

Everyone here at NLife knows that the Wii U is not weak, it just has a completely different architecture, similar to the Wii's while PS4 and Xbox One have a x86-64 architecture. Square Enix to make a GOOD port of KH3, they will have to invest in the Wii U port substantially compared to the Xbox One due to its identical hardware with the PS4. The low Wii Us sold is probably deterring them from taking a decision and that is why they have not clearly denied it neither accepted it. This game looks like it will be coming out 2 years later as Square Enix is only publishing one major title a year. FFXV looks more complete so that will come first. Square is probably waiting to see the Wii U's fate after this holiday season and maybe early 2014 to see sales pick up. It is possible that then they will give a clearer announcement.

I look forward to this game on the Wii U This porting business is not yet over!

Oh and Isaac for Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS!
