I don't understand how more than 4 wii remote controllers are possible all of a sudden. It really recognizes 8 wii remotes? That's amazing. I think that eshop game that has 8 players uses 4 wii remotes and 4 classic controllers connected to wii remotes for the setup, no?

It is one gamepad, 7 pro controllers, 7 wii motes, or 8 gamecube controllers if you have enough adapters. You can mix and match though. It is kind of incredible and it would be amazing for a Bomberman game to come out with a similar controller option.

My order for the Gamecube adapter just got cancelled because there weren't enough. Seriously, nice loving going Nintendo..

I'm looking to import some for myself and a few friends. It sold out so fast it wasn't even funny.

I'm getting very worried now. If I can't get the Gamecube adapter or controller the whole Smash Wii U experience is completely ruined of which I'd essentially be only buying the game for the Club Nintendo soundtrack.

At this point I might just wait till after Christmas to pick up an adapter that will probably be the best idea since everyone will be scooping them up for gifts.

I preordered the Smash Wii U + GCN adapter bundle and figured it would be safe until I saw @Monkeh's post.

What's a Mario GC controller? If it's the HORI one, then no, it connects to a Wii Remote, it is a classic controller disguising a fake GC controller. If it is a regular gamecube controller, it will work both for Wii's (that have GC ports) and gamecube always.

@Sergio151 No it's not a real GC controller but rather a Wii U pro controller in the shape of a GC controller. The only real GC controller available to get new is the black one with the Smash Bros. logo on it.

About the adapter. Don't worry guys. It's not like there are 50 of these things in the world. Nintendo will make more.

Oh yeah I am sue that they will make more its just more of an annoyance. I was hoping to get some Smash Bros Wii U in with the family in a few days but now it doesn't look like I will be able to. Its just silly that Nintendo knowing that this thing was in high demand didn't make enough for the Christmas rush.

Importing is the way to go. Who knows when more or even if more will be making their way to North America any time soon. Plus lets face it, would be nice for people to have the converter by Christmas holidays.

Either that or wait for a third party company like Madcatz to make one.

They hopefully will make more. I mean it's at least a month before Christmas to make more.

A month isn't very long, even to distribute it isn't very long. I would like to believe that they would get more by Christmas but even if they did how fast would they sell out. I think there will be a new wave of Smash owners who want one too, if Wii U does well this holiday.

Yeah I sort of thought 4 controllers plus the gamepad was a system level maximum just based on the system menu. I guess you have to sync the other controllers in game.

Well this is a new low.

A big retailer in my country just quietly changed everyone's Gamecube controller adapter pre-orders from the official Nintendo made adapters to Mayflash adapters, and just casually informed that hey, we've got the adapters at last! They didn't bother to apologize or say that they don't have the official ones and these are a different product. Who are they trying to fool?

In addition to that, they sell the Mayflash adapters under a manufacturer name "Techwo" which doesn't actually exist anywhere but their site. This is a big and a popular store!

@Sergio151 @Grumblevolcano It's actually not even a Wii U Pro Controller, but a Wii Classic Controller Pro. So no click stick on that one, plus it does work on the old Wii.

For only $64AU plus shipping. Wow. I could get a new Wii U Pro Controller and a half for that. For a thing that's literally just an adapter that's only really useful for one game? You'd be stupid not to go with the non-official one if that's the price gap. The Mayflash one at least also has the ability to also work on your PC.

The Official adapter works with PC too you just need to change how the computer recognises it

I'm starting to wonder if Nintendo changed their minds about getting more stock in NA. They said more was coming but it's February and there is none in sight...
