The Wii U launched with a Romance of the Three Kingdoms title in Japan.

The Wii U is PERFECT for Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Because there are 10 people in the west that would actually buy it, Tecmo Koei will never localise it.

So a hearty F-U to Nintendo for region locking. Now I'm going to have to get a Japanese Wii U.

Never heard of it. RPG?

What about the NN ID, couldn't you import one and use your ID to buy form eShop bit still have all your original DL titles?

I second this. There are several Wii games I've missed out on due to region locking.

I used to have a blog link here. I'll put it back up when the blog has something to read.

It''s a card game....? fun I guess. I looked cool like a fire emblem game until they showed the cards..

No. Hardcore strategy game.

It's especially frustrating once you have a PS3 and start importing games on that console. You immediately expect to be able to do the same with all the consoles, and when it doesn't happen, those consoles start to feel like they're really lacking.

No, Nintendo's only mistake here was not having put out a RotTK-themed Wii U bundle (complete with fancy skin featuring a character or two). After all, you didn't bat an eye when it came to the Love Plus 3DS.

I didn't end up getting that

For some reason I object to the idea of buying two home consoles from the one manufacturer more than I object to having two different 3DS models.

RotTK? Wuzzat?

Ah, the more you know. :3
But why would this not come to America? Was the previous game released here not successful?

A new romance of the three kingdom title?! I loved ROTTK 10 (also payed and enjoyed 7) so I really have to agree with you on region locking here. And just curious, can you play as an officer like in 10 cause a ROTTK game not having that fearure is a dealbreaker for me. Hope through some miracle it gets ported over here though.

The series is really, really, niche. The last one that was released over here was on the iPhone/ iPad.

In a better economy Tecmo Koei might have taken a risk, but now? Nah. The closest the west gets is Pokemon Conquest, which is the kiddie's version of Nobunaga's Ambition, which is the Japanese history version of Romance of the Three Kingdoms.

"Europe" wants Excite-Bots, dammit!

The other two regions got it and I had to buy an NTSC (US) Wii to play it with my mate in the US online... at least take the region-lock of the Wii emulator... ok, I'll even throw in a "please?"

Region-locking is in place for a bigger and better reason than to cater to this. An unfortunate circumstance, but nothing more.

This thread has finally taught me that WhiteKnight and HarmoKnight are two different users. Name-change-keeping-up is hard. Especially, since I'm still stuck on Waltz. It's like learning a new language but still converting from the "old" language in your head before you say something in the "new" language.

I'm also thrilled to see that someone else likes Moon Knight. He's my second favorite Marvel character!

Oh and region locking. Region locking sucks. booooo!

It's an outdated business imperative that drives the practice of region locking. Not a "bigger and better" reason at all.

I wish to model my life on Moon Knight. By that I mean I want to go ballscrazy and start beating up on bad people

It's a smart business practice to me. You're having to buy not one, but TWO Wii Us

I'll buy when it's Nobunaga's Ambition. Not much into Chinese history (or know anything about it).

It's almost exactly the same as Japanese history.

The Warriors Orochi series does a great job in highlighting the parallels between historical figures, personalities, and events between the Sengoku and Three Kingdoms eras of Japan and China respectively.
