TV, since my Wii U is permanently located in my living room (no other HD Televisions in my house). And for some reason, whenever I leave my living room my Gamepad screws up. The farthest I've ever gotten was in the kitchen on a chair located directly on the other side of the wall where my Wii U is placed. My room is simply out of the question.

I always play on the TV. There's no reason to use the GamePad as my main screen. I use it for Sonic Racing(multiplayer), and Nintendo Land, but otherwise I will always use the TV.
Games like Zombi U and Arkham City or Lego don't apply.. but I think if it's a mirror image, I find myself ultimately playing on the Gamepad. I played most of NSMBU and Bit Trip Runner 2 on the gamepad... it just seemed prettier and easier than looking at the TV.
Yeah I have two 42 inch Toshiba 1080p HD's in my lounge room. My gaming TV sits directly above the other one so I can watch normal programming and game at the same time using top notch wireless headphones. My setup would make the Xbone features completely pointless because I have been doing it better for the last 6 years now.
Nothing beats a beer beside me at the ready with sport on one TV while playing games on the other... Life is fantastic as far as my entertainment is concerned
The image quality on the GamePad is a fair bit lower than it is on the TV. A bit of that's because it's not 1080p but most of it's because it's a lower quality screen in general and there's compression going on. It's quite noticeable sometimes. When a big title like Mario or Zelda comes out I'm not going to play it on the GamePad purely for that reason. That said I find myself playing on the GamePad more often than not if it's possible.
Assassin's Creed 3 I played probably ~90% on the TV but everything else I've played so far has been about 80% on the GamePad. To start with I played with the TV on the vast majority of the time but I found myself looking at the GamePad in games where it's mirrored. So I guess it just seems more natural to look at the GamePad than it does to look at the TV for some reason.
@skywake: Yeah I find that I tend to look at the gamepad more than I do the TV when its mirrored. Heck when it comes to the VC games like Super Metroid I dont even bother turning the tv on.

Another reason for me using my TV, is that I have my Wii U hooked to a surround sound reciever. I can't get surround sound and HD on the GamePad.
VC games sound better through the receiver, and Wii U games with surround sound are way better than playing it in stereo on the GamePad. The VC games aren't over PCM 2, but it still sounds better on external equipment.
The only time I use the GamePad, is when I hook up the Wii U to a different TV besides my own, where lag is usually more noticeable, and that's still only for VC games.
I haven't been able to get very good reception on my gamepad in other rooms in my house unfortunately, so I don't get much use out of it except for Wii U games that add extra stuff to it.
Where's the KABOOM?! There was supposed to be an earth-shattering KABOOM! sigh delays...delays...
I prefer to use the TV, but if the enemy wants to watch TV, its great to be able to switch to the gamepad, it also works in most rooms in my house, even in the Kermit
