Topic: Discuss: Watch Dogs (and Ubisoft in general) for Wii U

Blast

.... It just hit me that this game might be among the last games Wii U owners are getting from Ubisoft. All we know is that Watch Dogs for Wii U is supposedly planned for a Fall 2014 release so.... Ubisoft is gonna release this game in the midst of Bayonetta 2 or Smash Bros U or Sonic Boom? We haven't got a real trailer of the game at all... which is VERY concerning. I'm sure the game is coming but the fact that we haven't seen a shred of gameplay from the Wii U version is worrying me.
People have mixed feelings about Watch Dogs. Some say it was a huge letdown. Some say it was fun. Some say its just best to wait for the inevitable better sequel.
What's funny and sad is that I am getting Watch Dogs for Wii U. Ubisoft has angered me in the past because of their decisions but I'm still getting the Wii U version.
What's even worse is that when Ubisoft finally starts talking about Watch Dogs for Wii U, the comment section of articles are gonna be like this "HA! The Wii U owners are JUST NOW getting this game?! How embarrassing!!! I played this MONTHS ago!!!".
And I'm almost convinced that Watch Dogs for Wii U will be among the last dang games we will ever get from Ubisoft. We're not getting any of the recently announced ACreed games. We're not getting Far Cry either. The list...runs....on.....

So... my fellow Wii U owners... How do you feel about this situation about Ubisoft and Watch Dogs?

I would be really grateful if this thread wasn't locked.

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

Ubisoft supporting the wiiu is over, watch dogs is the last game coming for the system. It's very sad, especially for the people who wants these games for the wiiu and that's their only system. I might buy this version of watch dogs, just to play the last game on the wiiu that has the uibsoft logo on it.

I think it's fully understandable that Ubisoft is dropping WiiU support due to the poor sales of the system.

As for Watch Dogs, all I can really say is; better late than never. Though I think Ubisoft would be better of scrapping the project at this point.

To be fair on the Wii U... It has been a good transition console between the Wii & PS3 to the PS4 next year

You know what if the wiiu version of watch dogs does not have online or DLC.They should just cancel it, making people pay full price for a game that has none of the features the other versions has that's messed up.If the version of the game has those features, then leave the game and let Oobisoft think of something to do with there partnership with nintendo.

I don't know why they even started a Wii U version, let alone haven't canceled it yet.

I'm cool. Not about the situation of course, even if I feel Watch_Dogs being a new IP of this popularity is the best thing Wii U could hope for right now (read: no people buying it elsewhere solely based on a previous game being on something else). But it's a cool hacking game and I didn't get tricked into lying graphics hype like the PC-lite crowd so I can just play the cool hacking GTA game I wanted on the console I wanted it to be on. And Gamepad use would be monumentally obvious and relatively simple considering the concept.

And if nothing else, I certainly know I've supported Ubisoft as this will be my, no joking, 5th Ubisoft game on Wii U.

I'd be even more surprised if anyone still wanted it.

Because there are still people like me planning on buying this game, or back then wanted this game.

I feel sad because they do make games that I'll love to play but just can't. It has been a long time coming however, the old Nintendo president insulting third parry and saying they are obsulete, Third party's failure at the launch which set us up for this bad day and Overall slow/average sales. I don't care about getting stuff months later or without online (cause really I hardly do online) I was just happy to get the games. Buthet I'm totally fine with games like W101, Bayo 1+2, HW, CT and all those First and Second party gems.

Everything can change, but I'm never changing who I am

We'll just have to see how it goes. It's obviously not ideal to handle things this way, but it'll have to do. It will be there for people who want it. I wouldn't assume it will do poorly, though. A majority of the Wii U fanbase ONLY has a Wii U, so it's far more likely to sell than if the same people already had a console to play it on.

I'd rather play it on Wii U than Xbox 360 and PS3. That's for sure. It's just a matter of how well it stands up to Xbox One and PS4 versions.

How long until Ubisoft drops support for Microsoft, Sony, and PC for Smartphones, financial advisors say that is where the real money is...

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

maybe they have a deal with Nintendo and they are "forced" to release a number of games for the system - Watch_Dogs being the last? I dunno.
Ubi became one rich software house thanks to the Wii - the Just Dance serie sold almost 40 million copies combined on Wii alone, so they kinda owe something to Nintendo.
I totally understand Ubi's reasoning for dropping support on WiiU though. They have released some good to great games on a console that had basically no competition and they didn't sell. They have released ZombiU on a console that had very few FPS and it didn't go well. They have released two ACs and one Splinter Cell on a console that had very few action games and they didn't sell.
So i'm sad they're going to drop their support after Watch_Dogs but I can't be mad at them.

Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...

I think Ubisoft is just surprised AC didn't sell well. That's one of their biggest games and Wii U owners just don't care. You can't really blame anyone, though. I personally don't care about AC, except for the fact that I realize it was a sort of technical marvel for consoles, overall.

If Wii owners are really the ones buying Wii U, which they probably are, I'm not surprised that they picked up something else instead. The same thing applies to games like Mass Effect 3. The other games just aren't there.

Watch_Dogs might have a better chance, just because of being a new IP.

I stopped caring about this game when I never saw anyone review the PS360 versions and heard Ubisoft lie about demo versions.... and when the PC version was broken. The only way it would sell well on Wii U is if it was £10 or included as the free game when you buy Smash Bros. I still might buy it but will wait for Ubisoft to slash the price to £5.

I only posted this to get my avatar as the forum's thumbnail.

I love Rayman. i wish nintendo would integrate the gamepad for donkey kong and mario like ubisoft did for the murphy scenes.

At first didn't like AC3. It was already on sale last summer for $30 and picked it up. it's only $12 now and ac4 is $17. so my nephews played it last month and i started to enjoy it. for $17 ac4 looks pretty tempting. i also got zombie u pretty cheap and didn't care for it, so maybe i'll give that another chance too.

i think the lack of third party support is in part due to nintendo fans pretty much just buying nintendo games and that's it. at this point tho, the install base is bigger and with next to nothing coming out in terms of third parties, i think it would be a good idea to at least test the waters again.

it is said that ubisoft has some games for the wii u on the shelf and they are in fact waiting for the larger install base, so we might see some new releases in the next year

I totally agree with you (and hey, if u were able to enjoy AC III here is a news for ou, AC IV is hugely better! I hated the III and loved the IV)...

I still don't blame Ubisoft, it provided me with excellent games on WiiU, pity that they didn't sell so well, imho because (main reason) many user just care about Nintendo games (someone here even calls Rayman Legend "garbage game"... LOL)....anyway...

About WiiU in general, it is clear now that it is a secondary console to have aside a PS4 or a PC, if you care about non-Nintendo games... (and this is pity, when I got the WiiU I really trusted the fact that "will be full of third parties").

I still have it preordered on Amazon. I might get 2 because this will no doubt be the rarest version of the game.

You will only need to buy the one at launch, then wait a few months to buy one as a collector's item, as I'll bet with in three months it will drop to half price and then after 6 months it will sell in the $20 range

I still think it will make some sense for third parties to release games on the Wii U when the install base reaches a certain point- and as I mentioned, I think UBISoft (and possibly others) will do just that.
