I'm waiting for a official statement because if this is retail it will need a hell of a lot of content to justify over £20.

That's the official retail box art. Do you need more confirmation than that?

Well obviously Nintendo actually confirming the news themselves duh.

Look up the Fact Sheet for this game, the retail price is still at TBD, but it clearly means they have plans for a retail release, plus well.. the box art. Besides, would that be a problem? The Wii U can use some more games, so I happily welcome it.

One of the levels shown off at E3 proves that we're looking at more than just the gameplay from 3D World, but also some new elements here and there. That said, the levels seem short, and without a TON of brand new ideas to keep the gameplay fresh and an insane number of levels, I really can't see this being worth more than $30. That said, it wouldn't be the first $40 game on the system, and I'd welcome the lower price.

$30 is an ideal price, and the retail version is probably only for shelf space.

$40 is pushing it, but I would pay up to that much. However, Nintendo better shove a poopledooplecacadoodle amount of content into the game to make it worth that much.

I have no problems paying full price for what will be a full retail game.

If Nintendo manages to make this worth $60, I will pay full price. But, it will take more convincing.

A multilayer mode would be awesome! One person can use the Gamepad and the other can use the TV. That would bump the value substantially.

Or they both use the TV screen but only one can control the camera adding more challenge and having to try to find one camera spot that works for both characters

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Btw Nintendo's art department really deserves praise for the work they put in on these game covers.

I'm loving this cover art. Really nice.

I really don't understand why so many people are already discounting this game by saying it better not be full retail. To me it plays at the pace of Luigis Mansion with a trade off of level variety for character mechanics, but I didn't read anyone saying Luigis Mansion should be a cheaply bought game.

I have assumed that the reactions are from people thinking that all levels in that new game would play exactly as the 3D World levels. In addition to a much more varied level design, the few levels displayed at the E3 Treehouse Live show that Captain Toad now has new abilities (hacking frenetically with the axe), and can throw radishes (in FPS mode as well, using a simplified version of the proposed Splatoon/Startfox aiming methods). I wouldn't be surprised if Captain Toad's torchlight is some kind of new ability as well. The only things we know that Captain Toad won't be able to do is run fast or jump.

Another thing: since the Captain Toad levels seem to be organized in a "book of memories", I get the impression they will create very different level environments throughout the game, rather than many levels in the same environment. I guess we just have to wait and see.

It seems to me that this game has to be an incredible ripoff for me to not buy it. Looks like so much fun...

I agree with you guys, I just don't think $60 would be a justified price, unless they do something truly spectacular with this. Lack of character mechanics and actions can only go so far without some truly stellar level design behind it. I'm personally hoping this'll be just like 3D World in which is looked good at first, but nothing special, and as it goes we warm up to it. Of course, since everyone already loves this idea, it'll start off looking fun and end up looking amazing. I hope, anyways.

So if Toad was able to jump, that would justify a higher price? If anything, more restrictions on his movement and actions will allow for much more creative gameplay. There's a lot more touch control involved to manipulate the environment, and it requires you to come up with some clever solutions in order to deal with problems that were a piece of cake for Mario. Do I think the price will be the same as Mario Kart 8 or Mario 3D World, no I don't think so, I think this will be a game that sells at a lower price. However that doesn't mean the game is less than a $60 game, or a game that couldn't have enough content to sell for $60.

The only thing that worries me is that they already showed a playable level with the dragon which I presumed to be the final boss.
Maybe he appears numerous times.

Yeah, the dragon has a band-aid on his head when Toad is riding him (her?), so my guess is that it's actually the first boss, and after you beat it, you ride it to another land.

. Come to think of it, will this game have some sort of story?

Toad whilst watching Indiana Jones gets hopped up on sugar and caffine and sets out on adventure to find the Lost Ark, along the way he meets Short Round his comic relief sidekick, James Bond now old and senile who he looks up to as a farther figure and the Shia Labeouf who wants to ruin all movie franchises starting with a sequel to Super Mario Bros

These environments are gorgeous. It's almost like they're not in that cube/circle design if you get em for the right angle.....Also I look adorable.
