i made my post as fool-proof as possible, but im afraid you somehow missed the part in my statement where i acknowledged Earthbound is expensive and a way to still get the game by means of saving if you dont have the money right now. you are not only "criticising" my post, you are making an assumption that i dont have a life because i collect games. im not mad at you, and if yer just wanting to play the game out of curiosity i dont blame you for not wanting to fork over 150 plus dollars for a cart only game that you dont seem to care about much for in the first place, yes that would be a waste of yer money. but for the others who do collect games, theres absolutely nothing wrong with trying to find a deal. the only reason i have a wii is for VC. again, having two complete copies of Earthbound, id still love to see it on VC myself. in the last 10 years ive had 4 copies, surely someone can score one. i guess i will also be the first on here to let people know that Mother 3 for Gameboy Advance is being worked on as an english reproduction cart. so theres that to look foward to as well.

And sometimes thats the only option that is available. So you just have to deal with it either pay the money for it or dont get it but dont whine over and over and over about it not coming to VC.

I'm pretty sure if Nintendo really wanted to, they could put the Mother series on VC. Maybe they're just waiting until they're in a stronger position financially?

I know it's not really a proper substitute, but here's a Kickstarter project that's inspired by the Mother series. There are some pretty nifty rewards, too; $50 will get you a copy of the game, the soundtrack, and your own NPC in the game!

i never played mother before(saw a friend play it for like 5 minutes)can anyone tell me whats in it thats so bad they cant put it on vc....besides that giygas thing

Mostly is stuff that is boderline copyright infringement that makes it difficult to put on the VC not really anything bad as in alot of violence or sex or that kinda stuff. As Ryno said a few post back all the things are causing Earthbound not to be released can be found here

What's so bad about Giygas?

Giygas says some weird things when you fight him and my friend told me the creator got those lines from a movie he saw when he was a kid about some girl being raped or something and I guess the devil's machine where Gyigas was in, resembles women parts. Also he was just a creepy boss. IDK I could be totally wrong I wasn't paying that much attention.

The saddest thing about no Earthbound for VC is that it shows that Nintendo just flat out don't care about the series. They've given the fans the middle finger ever since Mother 3 was cancelled on the N64 and refused to put in any extra effort to get the game a re-release is disappointing.

And people who say "why complain, go buy it on the SNES", well, there's a limited copy of it, it's expensive, and not everyone can afford it. What if that person you told that to could only afford a Wii and Wii point cards? And what if a person can't afford a SNES or the game? They're screwed out of it unless they pirate it, which we shouldn't have to resort to.

Yeah, I'm still bitter about this. I have no hope left for the Virtual Console. Once Smash 4 is out (along with a possible Star Fox and F-zero release), I'm done with gaming.

I would love Nintendo FOREVER if they brought the Mother series to VC, especially to Europe, cause Europe never got Earthbound/Mother. Does anyone else want DuckTales and Darkwing Duck to come on it as well?

I have never played Earthbound but I've heard that Nintendo itself said that they are not going to release the game on VC due to concerns the game’s background music infringes on copyrights held in the U.S. I'd like to try the game but I'm not spending 150€ (lowest price I've seen in Finland) for cartridge only + some kind of adapter to get it play on my PAL SNES. I think they could still make a new Earthbound game and bring the series back to life like they did with Kid Icarus. They still can do that right?

Argh! I've said more than once now I have never played Earthbound! I know little about it and never even heard about it before coming to this site. So I'm certainly not whining about it not coming to VC - I don't even care. At all. In the slightest.

I'm defending the people who do want it. You're assuming things about people you don't know who are posting about a game they like in a forum set up for people to do so. Yeah it's super unlikely to come out but can't you just have a discussion about the whys and the why nots without telling them to "get over it". There's games I'd like to see myself, such as a re-release of Shenmue, but if you told me to "get over" that being released on another console I'd tell you to go to hell. There's nothing wrong with liking a game and wishing for a release. Stop being such killjoys and just have a discussion about it.

It's obvious that Earthbound is never going to be on VC, and why people think otherwise is beyond me. It's possible that we might see a Mother Trilogy with heavily modified versions of Mother 1-3 for the 3DS or DS, but I wouldn't count on it.

I think that Nintendo should release the entire Mother trilogy in the West in some shape or form just to appease everyone in the West, but it will likely never happen. I have played some of Earthbound (in SNES cartridge form), and it is an enjoyable RPG. However, I don't think it's anything legendary.

I'm about to start playing it now. Considering all the praise it's gotten, it can't be half-bad.

It's really good. It's just not the best RPG ever made like some people claim it to be. So far, I have enjoyed other RPGs more than Earthbound (like Chrono Trigger, Radiant Historia, and the Paper Mario series for example). It's good, just slightly over-hyped.

I think the award for most over hyped RPG goes to FF7. Earthbound is a masterpiece despite your opinion. An opinion I of course completely respect and disagree with!

I completely agree with Knux, tbh. And Mother 3 is better anyway.
