I seriously somehow didnt even know this game even existed to a couple of months ago when I was again on a hunt to find Shantae for GBC and came across the game. The guy wanted Way too much money for it and I didnt even know what it was so I passed on it, Barely! Anyways I scored it cheaply online and it will be here in a few days and Im super excited as it has The Lost Levels and Speed Challanges and all kinds of new implementations to the original Super Mario Bros from NES. Any of you guys/gals got this one? Im really excited to add this one to my GBC Collection.

I own Super Mario Bros. Deluxe for the Game Boy Color. I had it since it came out in 1999, and it was my first Game Boy Color cartridge game.

I played that game to death when a hurricane KOed or power lines. It was awsome.

Personally, my favorite part is writing your own text on the title screen

I actually didnt buy a GBC until just a few years back as when I played my younger brothers I hated it because it was hard to see the screen without a backlight. My GBC Collection is very weak and Ive been slowly improving it, and Im thinking this will be my fav of the bunch. I will of course be playing it not on one of my 3 GBC but my GBA SP lol.

I personally find it better than the original SMB.

I got it as a little kid and I always wondered why it had better graphics than the other Mario games on Gameboy but lacked features like picking up turtles and more power-ups.
It's a pretty cool game, the only problem is the smaller than NES screen, but it's hardly a big problem.

I had just been promoted to a supervisor role where I worked and the first day, I went to Walmart before work, picked up a teal GBC and this game. Made the day go by a whole lot faster than just sitting there. Seriously, there was about 45 minutes of actual work from 9-5 and that was running some numbers and signing things.

@Rowdy.... lol. I have 3 GBC systems now in different colors and dont think Ive played any one of them for more than an hour or two. LOL, just to collect mainly. This is one of the few Retro titles Im sure to put hours upon hours into and will take time away from my normal gaming life lol. The last one to do that was Kid Icarus GB.

Got the game in and here are my thoughts....

OMG this is a upgraded version of the original SMB with new challange modes, speed runs, coin hunts, and all kinds of modes with the original graphics still perfectly in tact and controls...... WHY HASNT THIS BEEN DONE WITH ALL OF THE OTHERS?"

Seriously, why didnt NSMBDS have the challenge modes and all, its flippin incredible. Im so extremely impressed with this cartrige its unreal. Nintendo Life really should do a review of this incredible game. This has got to be the best version of a 2D Mario there is, hands down.

If you press Select during the Map screen, you can switch between Mario and Luigi.

I had the game since 1999, but now I don't. My Gameboy and the SMB Deluxe cartridge was gone. I don't know why but they did.

@Starboy.... REALLY? Thanks for the tip, Ive always liked playing with Luigi. Ill be trying that one out later tonight.

Despite the small screen, for me this is the definitive version of the Super Mario Bros.

All the upgrades to this game just continue to amaze me everytime I play this game. Just having the original game on a cart is awesome as I also have it for GBA, but the Lost Levels in their original for and not the All Star revamp that I continue to dislike to this day, and the challange modes. Then there is even more lol..... Im not telling you guys how cheap I got it either
