I'm new here at the NL forums, but I'm on a lot of the other gaming forums. Although I don't get to actually play games as much as I'd like these days, I do work on the systems a lot. I repair and customize video game hardware, and I'm frequently involved in some crazy project or another.
Currently I'm working on a series of NES case modifications based off the characters from some of the best games So far I've made a Super Mario, Simon Belmont, and Black Mage (from Final Fantasy), and I'm working on a Link from the original Legend of Zelda. In the near future I'll be making Mega Man, Tetris, and a Bob-omb.
Here are video links to samples. (I'll try and add some photos soon...)
1. a nes painted like a brick block from super mario bros 1 2. a see through console with loads of blinking LED`s circling around the circuit boards. 3. a tv with built in slots for nes, snes, N64, and wii / game cube disks. all have a pre set channel that will automaticly load up the games when they`re inserted into thier respective slots. the ports for the controllers are at the base of the tv. this can be detached and the info is transferred by infa red or can be left in the tv slot. a console with sound effects. when you put in a game you here a yum yum noise, and when you take the game out, you here a sound of somebody spitting or puking.
Zezhyrule - This particular unit isn't for sale, but I do commissioned work all the time. To see some of the projects I've worked on, you can check here: http://gametz.com/user/platinumfungi.html
I'm guessing it would be pretty expensive to ask to mod another Black Mage NES, but those Wii Remotes look pretty cool with the lights. I'll bookmark that link for future reference. :3
Thanks for the compliments everyone! I really put a lot of work into these customizations, so I appreciate the feedback
Tasuki - I work on almost every system ever made. Let me know if you have something in mind If you check this link you can see most of the systems I work on: http://gametz.com/user/platinumfungi.html
That Skies Dreamcast looks amazing, and the Air Zonk Duo kind of blew my mind. I'm a creative kinda guy, so I'll think about this and see what I can come up with.
Very nice work, Platinumfungi. A Samus NES is definitely needed, though...
"Don't make enemies, they'll stab your heart; don't make friends, they'll stab your back. Including me, including you, all men are trash. Don't love; don't be loved. Have nothing to do with other; live in isolation."
You know, I have to say, I'm just not much of a fan of the NES when it comes to case modding. It's pretty ugly to begin with, so there's not much you can do besides carve a sprite or a triforce into the top of the case and call it good haha. Keep up what you're doing- all of your stuff looks awesome- but I think for any crazy/fun ideas of my own I would want a case with some more interesting curves and geometry.
Thanks guys! I'm pretty certain I'll do Samus eventually...so I think you're covered there
Moosa - Yeah, the old NES sure isn't very aesthetically attractive. For me I like to work on them because it was the first system I ever played, and have a lot of great memories of playing games with my friends. So it's the whole nostalgic thing.
I'm up for working on any system though, so if you have any ideas, just let me know!
ALSO, CAN SOMEONE HELP ME OUT - What mark up code/language/whatever you call it does this forum use? I'd like to actually be able to add some photos, bold my text, etc. THANKS!
Very nice. I particularly like the Mario one. The slant gives it a nice touch. I mean this in the nicest of ways, but isn't it a little late to be doing covers for those systems?
If you add me, I need to at least know you or I won't add you back.
