MickeyMac - why wait until Christmas to get a CDX disc? I doubt they'd be any more than a fiver (aka pocket change in USD).

Anyway, sorry, but I can't sell my Fighting Vipers 2. I'm hardly what you'd call a game collector but if I ever buy and awesome game I like then I wont sell it. However....I do have some duplicate Dreamcast games I left at my parent's house years ago. I've been meaning to sell them so if there's anything in there that you might like I'll be sure to notify you of the ebay auction (yes, I'll ship to the US). I think I have a spare HeadHunter y'know - doubtful about Fighting Vipers but not seen what I have there in almost a decade.

Its cheap, but I'm not allowed to get anything else. I wasn't even supposed to get the Dreamcast, and I'll have to hid it once my parents get back from vacation. Luckily I'll be going to college soon, so I'll be able to play it again soon enough.

Haha sucks to be stuck in a situation like that where you can't use your own funds -- petty parents. If you earn it, it's yours. As soon as you're out of there you'll be happy, just watch the books like a crack dealer, make sure all your funds are in line or you're done. Either way, I'm not sure about Fed vs Zeon seeing a UK release, but I'm sure you could google it.

Yeah... And no PAL port of Fed vs Zeon, unfortunately.

Dreamcast was pretty cool and I still have one but as good as the games were most were pretty shallow in comparison to other consoles. Having mostly arcade ports had both an upside and a downside. It really depends on my mood though. I go through phases of wanting to play quicker games that require skill and then into more deeper games that require thought and patience.

Yeah I really think the only ones going back for today are:
Jet Grind Radio
Ecco the Dolphin
Soulcalibur
Sonic Adventure
Resident Evil Code Veronica
Power Stone

Console Passion has a complete listing of PAL Dreamcast games (among other formats) which might be useful.

A few weeks ago I picked up Bangai-O for about £10 which was a bit of a bargain, even though I don't really like shoot 'em ups. Haven't played it yet but probably will check it out next time I set up my DC, which at this rate probably won't be until next year!

I have my Dreamcast (and Saturn) permanently set up under the TV downstairs now. I'm usually a single console kind of person but there's plenty of room there and I love the idea I can just play all these classics with no effort setting the things up.

@madgear I would do the same, but my TV doesn't have enough A/V ports with my DVD player, Wii and PS2 constantly plugged in too.

I'd highly suggest Power Stone 2. One of the best arcade brawlers around (and the anime's pretty good too) - invite 3 friends over and you'll have a blast. I have non-gamer friends from my high school days still mentioning that game to me. They still say they want to play it again, after all these years!

Has any else's Dreamcast casing started fading? Mine's a grimy-looking yellow-white now. Same with the controllers. They'd been in storage most of the time so I was surprised when I brought it out a few months back. Apparently it's because of some fire-retardant/heat-resistant chemical in the plastic seeping out.

Unhook the DVD player, the PS2 will do just fine. Personally, I just have all my systems on a shelf and hook up 2 or 3 at a time. Although I do have another TV where I have my two most recent consoles always hooked up, but if my brother has his way, nothing but the 360 would be hooked up so he doesn't have anymore wires tangling up his expensive cheater headset.<_<

Also, the case on my Dreamcast came a bit yellowed. It's from the sunlight.

So I just "accidentally" ordered Record of Lodoss Wars off amazon for a pretty decent price. I'm also thinking of picking up Timestalker while I'm at it, I see they got new and used copies for a very low price. For the sake of discussion, does anybody know of any other Dreamcast RPGs?

Hmm, there weren't that many RPGs on the Dreamcast IIRC. Skies of Arcadia was great once you get past the slow beginning. Grandia II was great (the DC had the best version - though I like Grandia I better overall). Phantasy Star Online is amazing, but I'd suggest you download Blue Burst for Windows and join the free private server instead of getting one of the Dreamcast versions.

Evolution and Evolution 2 were bad, the stories were horrible and the battle system left a lot to be desired.

Dragonriders: Chronicles of Pern was a really interesting western RPG, but the immensely long loading times made it a real drag and I gave up on it.

I never had Timestalkers but it's apparently quite bad. Lodoss is supposedly a lot like Diablo, so if you like that you'll know if it's right for you.

The Playstation had a much better selection of RPGs. Released around the same time as those games were the likes of FFVIII, Chrono Cross, Legend of Dragoon and Parasite Eve. Where the Dreamcast really shines is arcade, puzzle and action games.

Yeah, I hear a lot of good things about Skies of Arcadia, even by non-RPG fans. I personally can't wait to try it out. I loved Grandia 1, and I hear Grandia 2 is fantastic, too. But what made the DC version better than the PS2 version?

I really should play more Blue Burst, It was so good, but I dunno if my account's still up anymore.

Evolution 1 and 2 were bad?! Never thought I'd hear that from a Sting game. I still wanna try it out, though. Same with Timestalkers.

Its nice to know Record of Lodoss Wars is good, seeing as how I bought it and all. I love Diablo style games.

And no doubt the PSOne was the system for RPGs, but every system has its fair share of good RPGs, and its good to know the Dreamcast is no exception.

Oh, I just remembered another one: Armada. I hear good things about it, although it's kind of Diablo-meets-Asteroids in a way.

Dreamcast games should really be added to the VC (or at least the VC successor).

Successor: surely. DC games are already being added to PSN and XBLA, obviously Sega has no problem rereleasing their old DC games.

People hyped that game up to me using that same description. I still owe them a punch to the throat for that. It's hard to feel ripped off when you only spend $5 on a game, but that's how I felt.

Then what's it really like? It looked like Asteroids meets Diablo to me. You go around taking out enemies and leveling up, but you move around and shoot them like you would in Asteroids, only on a bigger playing field.

I guess you could say it's like space Diablo but without any cool enemies, settings or fun quests. It still leaves in the grinding, however. Sooooo much grinding. The game progresses at such a glacial pace that it eats your will to live. Even once I got some new weapons and stopped shooting the tiny bug-like ships and moved to shooting the medium sized bug-like ships the gameplay doesn't feel any more engaging.

You might enjoy it more than I did but I can say it was one of the worst purchases I made for the system.

I just got seaman but my VMU is too full to make a save file. Has anyone here played this? I'd like to know what it is.

I haven't played it, but I know what it is: It's kind of a life/fishtank sim, but with some really, really weird fish. Do you have the voice control periferal?
