I do in fact know of an intellectually insulting human being who hates it, but that's not the best sign, is it? No, that's not an insult to you, even though not explaining your reasons why is questionable.
I don't entirely blame a person if they hate it, mainly if they're not into old school RPG battles or the game's sense of humor.
Why would you think that you were the only one? It's fine if you don't like it, there isn't one game out there that everybody likes.

Seriously though, EarthBound is a great game (Mother 3 is better) but I can see why some folks hate/dislike it. If you're a huge RPG fan like me, you'll love it, but otherwise, you're better off sticking to something you know you'll enjoy.
Off-topic, but I've noticed some folks dis-like the fandom. I do as well. They constantly ask for new games/releases of old games when the series is obviously dead to Nintendo. But I guess I'm a hypocrite because I do that sometimes.
Hate is such a strong word. I don't like the series and I think it's quite overrated
