Let's play a game here...Imagine what could have happened if Nintendo had never existed into gaming and post it here. The ones that make sense to you are the ones that you can ignore but the ones you feel need to be done right can be argued as much as you want.
I'll Start first. Lots of things wouldn't have happened without Nintendo.
1.Revolutionary concepts like handhelds, Rumble pak, save feature etc.
2.Sony wouldn't have gotten into gaming.
3.Sega wouldn't have made Sonic the Hedgehog without Mario.
4.Many who wanted to do gaming as a career wouldn't even think about becoming one without Shigeru Miyamoto.
5.Most video game companies wouldn't exist without Nintendo.
6.Games wouldn't be inferential without Nintendo around.
A lot more kids would've grown up playing games outside instead of playing video games.
BEST THREAD EVER future of NL >:3

I somehow doubt anyone else would have done what Nintendo did to get gaming back in the US market. Sony and Microsoft (companies today that do gaming mostly thanks to Nintendo), would have stuck to their guns of televisions, speakers, and computers.
Without Nintendo, gaming (in the US) wouldn't have been the same if it existed at all.
I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.
I used to own a GBC, PS2, and DS Lite

I am pretty sure that if Nintendo didn't exist or get into the video game market some one else would have it would have just taken longer. I mean the PC wasn't effective by the video game crash games were being produced for it, which eventually lead to the Xbox. Also the video game crash lead to Sega rethinking how to do video games on their own so, I am sure they would have stayed on the path they were on.

Except Sega wouldn't have the NES as competition which wouldn't have resulted inthe Genesis and any of Sega's other franchises; and the Xbox was created because Microsoft was worried about the Playstation's success taking people away from PC gaming and Sony wouldn't have gone into gaming without Nintendo approaching them about a CD addition to the SNES.
No Nintendo, no gaming as we know it.

How do you know that for a fact? I am pretty sure that technology would have progressed without Nintendo. Saying that the wouldn't be a Genesis without Nintendo is like saying there would have not been any Chevy cars without Ford. PC gaming is on a different level then console games so eventually Microsoft would have wanted it to make it more available to people who aren't PC gamers hence the Xbox. If you look at an Xbox 360 for example they have more in common with a PC then they do the earlier game consoles. We would more then likely still have them but we would have skipped the NES to N64 eras.

Only the US game market crashed. Someone else would have come along, seeing how it was still booming in the rest of the world.
How so? explain.....did other companies make games outside US and were they anything like Dizzy back then?
I'm not sure what you're asking? The Dizzy games were made in the UK. Are you saying was there anything beside that? Well, there was a number of popular machines about, such as the Spectrum, BBC Micro and Amstrad, as well as the PC. Popular games included Elite, Manic Miner, Ant Attack, Jet Set Willy, Skool Daze, Head Over Heels, Populous, Sensible Soccer, Lemmings, Championship Manager, Theme Park, and that's just the UK.
Japan was not effected by the crash either, and the NES had plenty of rivals back in it's homeland at first. In the US however, Nintendo walked into a completely uncontested marketplace and cleaned up without any competition, and that's what made them what they are today. The biggest market in the world and nobody they had to share it with.
