One thing's for sure...Gunpei Yokoi would still be alive because Nintendo wouldn't be around to assassinate him for failing with the Virtual Boy.

Nintendo didn't kill him at all! Infact they never fired him. He just left the company for whatever reasons and tried to make the wonderswan to compete with the system but failed to do so and while he was in the car, an accident occurred.

I see you've been fooled as well.

Not sure why you linked that. It proves nothing, and only furthers the cover story that Nintendo wants you to believe.

We will never forget you, Gunpei Yokoi, and I will never stop spreading the truth!

A person without a sense of humor is like a wagon without springs. It's jolted by every pebble on the road.

ok if you think this is fanboyism, then how is it that no other company thought of region-locking and policies like Nintendo did? SEGA completely ignored the censoring part for their games and didn't even care how the government reacted to it.

like kyuubikid213 said, competition is needed inorder for the world to come up with unique things. Who would've come up with storytelling concepts without Nintendo? Who would've thought of save features in a console without Nintendo? All these are implemented through competition and its because of competition that distinguishes Nintendo.

After so long...I'm back. Don't ask why

How do you know for a fact that Nintendo murdered him? He himself left at the age 50 and made his own company at 54 until the accident. Why would Nintendo ever want to kill him if the wonderswan wasn't even close to competing with the Game Boy in the first place. You're speculations that Nintendo murdered him because of him leaving is incomprehensible. http://kotaku.com/5789740/why-gamings-most-tragic-conspiracy-...

PC gaming would be king for all time. Companies like Valve and Blizzard would basically be taking Nintendo and Sony's place and everyone would just be making PC games. Maybe consoles would still rule in the east with Sega, as from what I've heard they were actually in the gaming business before Nintendo. It's not that gaming wouldn't exist without Nintendo. Only CONSOLE gaming wouldn't exist without Nintendo.

Don't know if you know the story, but the reason Gabe Newell decided to found Valve and get into gaming was because he was inspired by Super Mario 64.

Never heard of that, though I'm sure even if Nintendo hadn't done 3D graphics first, they still would have made Half-Life. Just look at what they're doing now with the Steam controller. Heck of a lot more innovative than the Wii U gamepad.

This thing actually looks kind of awful to me. It's such a different design from what's been built upon since the SNES. And a lot of Steam games use the 360 pad anyway, so why fix what isn't broken?

Sorry. I meant to say why break what works flawlessly?

I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.
I used to own a GBC, PS2, and DS Lite

I have to agree that I think steam pad looks terrible but it may be great and make us rethink how controllers should be designed. I'm just choosing to not knock it till I try it.

From what I hear that's not actually the final Steam controller. If I'm right, they actually added a D-Pad and Four Face buttons, and removed the touch screen in the middle entirely. The reasoning was that it was distracting to take someone's view away from the main screen an it didn't have a whole lot of use. So in the end they're not replacing the SNES foundation, just rethinking the analog sticks that came after. The whole reason for the touch pad instead of sticks of course is that you have to program something specifically for sticks, while the touch pads can fool your PC into thinking it's a mouse and keyboard, allowing you to play games that weren't designed for it.
