@BLP_Software You're being overly pessimistic. Zelda got universal praise and some are considering it one of the best games ever made. It's absolutely a frontrunner for GOTY.
@BLP_Software Zelda already got a GOTY award at the TGS. With Persona 5 being released. COD,Forza and Assassins creed hasn't won an award in years! Also you can't other exclusives from different consoles. Cause Gears 4 and Halo 5 never won anything. Only exclusive that released from another console was Uncharted 4 and that was last year.

For me, I think it'll probably be between BOTW and SMO for GOTY. I'd never even heard of PUBG before.
That NBA 2K18 boxart is terrible, ruined by the writing on the top and MicroSD card sticker. I'd seen an earlier version, but geez. I'm not liking how some games don't fit fully on a cartridge or in some cases not at all(Resident Evil: Revelations 2).
I thought Xenoblade X was a huge step back from Chronicles in many ways. I absolutely loved Chronicles, when I bought it I was unsure if it was the kind of game I'd like but it turned out to be one of the best and most memorable I've ever played. X on the other hand bored me to tears if I'm being honest. Twice I gave it a good go, sinking many hours into it but I just couldn't motivate myself to keep going. It was honestly one of my most disappointing gaming experiences ever as I was so hyped for it ever since it's reveal. If Switch was getting a direct sequel to X I doubt I would even bother with it but since it's a sequel to the original I still have faith it'll be great and I'll certainly be buying it day one. Any hype I should have though just isn't there.
As for Mario Odyssey winning GOTY, I feel confident in saying it'll be one of the highest reviewed games of all time.
@SLIGEACH_EIRE doesn't change the fact mario is a trash game as far as GOTY goes and people in this forum are seemingly more likely to bring up golf story as GOTY before talking about Xenoblade.
@IceClimbers Well, it's the best game I've played so far this year, so it deserves it IMO. But like I said, I haven't played SMO yet, so who knows? I hope that game will be even better. Sunshine and 64 remain my favourite 3D Mario games. Thinking about 64, I gotta replay that game soon...
I don't really care about GOTY as long as it's not a broken MT riddled game that wins the award. But it seems most people have already set their mind on Zelda.
@OorWullie i said as far as GOTY goes if you read.. i didn't say it was a trash game in general, i am going to buy it.. but to seriously say mario, a platformer that everyone has already played before, is going to be better than anything we see all year? That's a joke.

Mario Odyssey, I suspect, will get a Metacritic score of about 92-94. It looks a fabulous game, with some really neat new stuff in it, but I reckon for a Mario platformer to score higher and get GOTY recognition, it needs to revolutionise, and I'm not expecting that to happen.
BotW didn't revolutionise either, but it was really special, and probably that 'specialness' was boosted by the fact it launched on a brand new hybrid console, so got extra hype points. Mario Odyssey could also be special... but it won't benefit from Switch newness hype.
You guys had me at blood and semen.
