@FragRed: Yeah, I said earlier how I am not sure if Nintendo can actually satisfy us with the Hardware, the Software is going to be everything for Nintendo. If the Hardware is what we expect then people won't be excited that it is something new and different. If the Hardware isn't what we expect, then people will still be disappointed it isn't a "traditional" system. Software is really the only area Nintendo can standout and exceed expectations.
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

@DefHalan: I just hope they don't try something stupid like showcase New Super Mario Bros NX or Super Mario 3D World NX, but a full on proper 3D Mario game that showcases exactly what the NX can do - like how they used Mario 64 to showcase the N64 capabilities. Of course we all know about Zelda so that alone isn't enough either though it will sure be one of the loudest cheers when it gets shown (assuming it is a conference for the NX and games).

@FragRed: I also hope they don't just cram a bunch of Wii U ports near launch. Nintendo fans have already played those and if those games couldn't sell the Wii U, how are they going to sell another system?

@FragRed: What exactly is stupid with a 3D World NX? I'd love it. Yes, I'd love a full-scale 3D Mario but there's nothing wrong with a 3D World NX to hold us waiting for the 3D Mario we've all been waiting for.
God first.

@DefHalan: Exactly. What I want is something different, and by different I mean new IPs which includes resurrecting some from Nintendo’s vast library of forgotten IP. And they definitely need to push the 3rd party games big time in their launch. Show everyone they mean business.

@Vee_Flames: Eh, I'm with @DefHalan on this one. Something like a 3D World NX port? Too soon. Way too soon. It would just reek of unpreparedness and haste on Nintendo's part.
Then again, for the millions of people who never bought a Wii U, that wouldn't be such a big deal.
@rallydefault: I'm not really talking about a port. I'm talking about a sequel or a continuation to 3D World. I love 3D World so much that I wouldn't mind a sequel.
BUT I do not want a port of 3D World. I agree, that just reeks of laziness and haste on Nintendo's part.
God first.

A 3D World port wouldn't make much sense. Zelda, Smash, Pokken? Sure. Even Bayonetta wouldn't be a bad idea. But 3D World? Nah.
Anyways, if the recent NeoGaf thread is true, and the PS4.5 has a significant enough power boost and developers are targeting it with new games, then expect major backlash.

If they're making a 3D World NX, it wouldn't be because they're trying to hold us off for the 3D Mario we've been waiting for. They've had over 3 years to do that. A 3D World NX would mean that 3D World is the new normal for 3D Mario. And they really don't want to send that message after the skepticism and complaints with Nintendo moving away from large scale exploration based games.
I really hope they make a traditional 3D mario game which isn't so linear, I really love how in Super Mario 64 you could go into any level and pretty much get any star you wanted. I didn't like how the levels were set up in galaxy

I think Galaxy 1 was a good blend of old and new styles. There were still plenty of free camera levels with stuff to explore, but by mixing them with linear levels it allowed the developers to really flex their creative muscles.

Octane: That didn't stop Xbox One from getting BC in their system. lol
I think I already talked about this with you. The problem is that the XOne isn't backwards compatible. Yes, you can play and download the 360 games you own, but that isn't the same. Assuming their next home console isn't PPC based, it would need to emulate the Wii U games. Emulation is pretty tricky and I'm actually surprised that Microsoft managed to pull it off. There's a reason why the regular 3DS doesn't get 20+ year old SNES games.
@Therad: That was an option, but does Microsoft have the right to port third party games? That's not even talking about the sheer amount of games; seems like a lot of work if they're porting all games individually.
TBH, I don't think SNES VC games are a system seller. If they wanted to make a quick buck, they would've made it available to all the regular 3DS owners as well.
Oh, and the reason we don't get SNES games on 3ds is because Nintendo wanted to gate them, not because it couldn't be done on 3ds.
I would wager that it wasn't either. I don't think Nintendo gains anything from them not being on the original 3DS. I see no reason why they're not there other than technical reasons. The original 3DS is far less capable than people assume, especially in regards to the CPU. The New 3DS didn't give it a GPU bump but it did give it a fairly big CPU bump. When emulating games? The CPU is the only thing that really matters. So I think it's hard not to believe them when they say it's technical reasons.
That said I agree that they probably could have done SNES emulation on the 3DS. It's definitely possible. I just don't think they would have been able to get it upto the standard that Nintendo would have wanted. Not to the point where they would have been happy for you to pay for it.
@Octane: Of course they might have the permission to port third-party games. And why would you need to download the game if it was emulated? @skywake: the DS had emulators. So I would say 3ds has more than enough power.
