For me, it was Sonic Adventure 2 Battle for GC. I had a Chao from the Chao Garden mode that I loved, and one day I accidently changed one of his features, so I quickly turned off my system so it wouldnt save. Turn it back on, boom I corrupted it. I sat there crying for maybe an hour but never deleted the corrupted file.

Can't remember when I lost a save, not recently anyway. Only time I remember is waaaaaaay back in the GameBoy days when my Pokemon game (or maybe it was the system, lol) freaked out and kept resetting for a minute. Then BAM...save file gone. >.>

Something broke in my Fire Emblem (7) cartridge so now I have no save files and it will still say new game when choosing to save after each chapter... Really sucked since it was one of my favourite games, but I do have it on Wii U now.

Years ago, pllaying the first disc of FF7, I spent a ridiculous amount of time over-leveling my party getting all the limit breaks and everything I could do up to the end of the first disc. I think Cloud was at level 87 and I had spent probably around 60-70 hours on it. When I started disc two I got an error message saying the memory card was corrupt and had to be formatted.

I have never finished Final Fantasy VII.

My Harvest Moon FoMT GBA cart just stopped saving one bad day. I had a many-years file too, it was sad.

I had to restart ALttP three times when I was playing it due to the save data getting randomly wiped (I had it ever since the early 90's, but I never played it to win until I dug it up in '07). I somehow managed to not only beat it, but 100% it, that last time, but the save data erased again about a month later and I haven't went back to it (at least I managed to beat it once, though).

I was also disappointed to find out that my copies of Pokémon Gold (GB) & Sword of Mana (GBA) wouldn't save anymore when I dug them out a few years ago.

The data on my GameCube's memory card corrupted a few years back, so I lost all of the saves for a significant section of my gaming library in one terrible blow. I still don't have the stomach to re-start some of those games.

Once I was trying to get some songs on my 3DS (I didn't have a phone, so the Sound app had to do) on my dad's slow computer. I must have tried to get too many songs at once, because I crashed the computer and my 3DS download data got deleted. At least this was before I got FE:A, Pokemon X and Smash.

Not much to say here. I like Nintendo. That's about it.

I remember when I played Mario & Luigi for GBA just after release and I turned off the console while it was saving and it erased my save file. I had played through about 80 % of the game so I was quite sad, but I was determined to beat the game so I started all over again. Since then I'm always careful when shutting down my systems so I won't risk losing the save file.

Last year I needed to buy a new HD drive for my WiiU as the one I already had was old and started to mess me about.
I could only move a few games at a time (from one HD to the other) worrying if my old HD would hold up ok.
Luckily I moved most of the games over with no real hiccups, that was until I went to move my copy of Need for Speed most wanted. It got half way through, the old HD decided to have memory meltdown and my WiiU came up with a, "could not connect to external memory drive" message. It wiped the game and save files, which got me rather mad as I had 100% the game.
I ended up downloading the game again, which took ages, and had to complete the game all over from the beggining. I suppose I shouldn't be too angry as it did help to fill up my time while waiting for new games to come along.

I played Rayman Areana at some point on my gamecube years ago. While it was saving, the power went off and all that data got lost. Luckily I already beaten the game twice so I got no issues in that and besides, my Gamecube's dead now.

Most of my times in the GBA era, some old games of mine would get the save files wiped out. I guess the batteries in the cartridges weren't powerful enough so I had to get used to it. I remember my experience playing super mario advance 4 when I was nearly at the final world. As I turned it on, the save file got erased and I had to start the whole thing all over again until I got to the point where I beaten Bowser and gotten the two warp whistles. After which it got erased again.

After so long...I'm back. Don't ask why

A save action from some unremarkable PSX game I had loaned erased my entire memory card including some RPG's which lost me 40-60 hours of gameplay. I still finished all games affected as far as I remember, so there wasn't any permanent damage.

I have the same problem thinking of buying it on the Wii U.

Same story as Revolver. The official 1019 card + WiiConnect24-enabled Wii = bad times. I salvaged some data by copying it to another card and testing them individually, but I lost most data for games like Prime 2, Pokémon Colosseum (RIP to the forgotten Pokés), Mario Party 4 (and I previously lost that data when my nephew deleted it), the Pikmins... and although I lost Melee too, I was smart enough to have backed up a save for that. If I lost that one or my AC town... ugh. Don't wanna think about it.

Yup, same here. I had no clue that that is what caused the corruption though.

I'm fairly certain that was the combo, anyway. I suspect the cards weren't built to handle the heat — the console always seemed warm with the orange light, but I don't know why the smaller cards seemed to be fine.

I felt pretty betrayed when it happened haha but I'm glad I saved some of the data.

My sister once deleted all of my save data off of my PS2 memory card in order to save her Guitar Hero crap.
I wanted to throw up.

My Sega Saturn memory cart wiped once destroying all of my Fire Pro Wrestling S save data, I'd translated everything to english, took me forever to do. Couldn't bring myself to do it again.

Did you let it go? Could you hold it back anymore?
