I only got "mad" about SM3DL getting snubbed. I also got "mad" when Steve Carell was snubbed at the Emmys, and when Christopher Nolan was snubbed at the Oscars.
The only thing that got me bent out of shape in terms of the BAFTA awards was that Peggle, a game which was originally released 5 years ago, beat out everything that was actually released in 2011. That's like every gaming website voting that Beyond Good & Evil HD was the best game of 2011; yes, say what you will about BG&E's quality, but it's a re-release of a game that originally came out in 2003! It shouldn't even be qualified to participate in the competition!

But mobile games are handheld. It would be a waste of time to have two seperate awards for games comparable in scope.
They're not comparable in scope though. Mobile/smartphone/tablet devices don't have as many games that last you as long as a lot of games on Nintendo and Sony handhelds. Most games on the former are games that you'll only play for a few minutes at a time but there are many games on the latter that you can play for at least an hour at a time.
But a lot.of the games on tablets are D's and pap games. I mean shadowgun looks better and oats me longer than anything on both the 3ds and vita./quote] I've bolded the parts that I don't understand but I'm guessing that oats was meant to be lasts? No idea what the first thing I bolded is though.

couldn't I make that argument about eshop and psn games compared to say grad on mobile phones.
I could understand them being in the same category if it was eshop and PSN game being compared to mobile/smartphone and tablet games but its not. They put retails games from dedicated gaming handelds in the same category.
For you, the day LordJumpMad graced your threads, was the most important day of your life. But for me, it was Tuesday. [url=http://www.backloggery.com/jumpmad]Unive...
Peggle HD, in no possible way, should have beat SM3DL. SM3DL is a really great game that doesnt bore you and is well rounded, if you know what I mean. Its like saying Angry Birds Seasons beat Mario Kaart Wii. Sure, I like ABS, but I'd rather play the exciting MKW all day long. Same goes for this. And yes, this doesnt just apply to Nintendo. People got mad whe the Black Eyed Peas were asked to sing at the Super Bowl, and not the Who, etc. Just depends on your opinion, and many people like Nintendo, and some dont.
I don't like that there are so many people here that can't recognise that Peggle is an awesome game.
Seriously, guys, just because a game wasn't made on a budget of a few million $s and had a hundred people working on it, doesn't mean it's a less worthy game.
If the defining characteristic of games getting awards is size and development cost, then crap, we better give Call of Duty every single award for console games, and the 3DS games will never deserve an award over a Vita games. That is, of course, a silly attitude to take. A game can be small in scope and brilliant in execution, and yes, that can make it better than a 'bigger' game.
Peggle is flipping awesome. It deserved the reward.
Peggle is awesome, but I still disagree with it being better than SM3DL. That being said some people are taking a simple awards program way too seriously.

I agree Peggle is awesome. However what i don't agree with is that it wasn't released in 2011. The origonal Peggle was released a long time ago, idk maybe 4 year not sure. All this new Peggle is is a hd version. (<--correct me here if im wrong, i dont actually own the HD version)

@ChocoGoldfish I don't think size and development cost are what some people are concerned about, it's more of the depth and 'experience' that are made possible by the resources available. Also, some people may not like the fact that mobile game is developing more to be comparable to handhelds (minus the buttons). All in all, until I get a specific method of how they pick the games, then I'll still be weary of the mobile/handheld category...at least.
V8 Ninja really has a point. If rereleases of old games with a new coat of paint beat games that are releasing now, then the industry will start to go backwards. It would be terrible to think that Peggle won because there weren't any other worthy games, but that is definitely not the case. So technically if they release Peggle Nights HD in Vita this year, they could win the award again? And technically Ocarina of Time 3D should have beaten Peggle HD, if they are allowing remakes to participate.
At the end of the day, most of the games I enjoyed last year did not get any awards, and I don't think less of them. Zelda SS and Skyrim did not win any of those, but they still had impressive reviews and were great, massive games with lots of fun to be had. And Modern Warfare 3 won't be selling less either.
I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

Hey true story. I've played Peggle HD more than SMB 3D. Depth and experience indeed.
Seriously guys, Popcap games are virtually endless in terms of depth and quality.

Even if that was true and you weren't just trolling, how the heck does that have anything to do with anything?
Too many people in this thread think their opinion is somehow fact, and therefore this award thing has no legitimacy. I guarantee a lot of people out there do prefer Peggle to Mario.
