My turn: A few weeks back, when I was over at a relative's place, they let me use their notebook. I'm a tower user myself, and couldn't understand why the thing was having problems while I was web browsing. I set XP to defragment, only to realize that it didn't have 15% of its whopping 15.2 GB SSD free, and therefore it would not initiate the process. In fact, it was down to the last hundred or so Megs of memory. I informed the owner, of the situation, but they didn't care.
Within the next few days (and a few XP updates) they called me wondering if I could "just fix" the problem. They were unhappy about it, but they let me uninstall almost all (the remaining ones are very small web plugins) additional software, bringing the used space down to 14.0 GB.
A few updates later, it was back to where it was before (only with 400-ish MB free). I took a peek inside and found that the HP Mini 1030NR was running off of a SanDisk 16 GB (16GB when all memory is unallocated) SSD and connected via a 40-pin ZIF cable. There seemed to be enough space inside for a 1.8" HDD if I removed a proprietary usb port which the owner told me they didn't care about. Anyway, 48 hours or so later, I realized that 1.8" 40-pin ZIF drives were also used in iPod Videos. That said, they ordered a 120 GB Samsung iPod Video HDD and the appropriate enclosure.
When the drive and enclosure arrived, I tried it out and it worked fine as a Logical drive (for storing Files). That said, I formatted it as a primary Drive and cloned the SSD to the new HDD. Then, I replaced the SSD with the HDD and attempted to boot up the netbook. Just one problem, the bois didn't recognize the HDD. I placed the HDD back in its enclosure and attempted to boot from it inside the enclosure. The XP started to load, followed shortly after by a blue screen stating that the system would shut down to prevent hardware damage. I've tried it with around half a dozen cloning tools (including Acronis Migrate Easy Transfer, Acronis True Image Home 2011, Clonezilla, Paragon Backup & Recovery 2011, and Macrium Reflect) all to no avail.
So basically, here's where I am: the HDD isn't recognized internally by the bios, the SSD isn't recognized when its in the enclosure, over a week of my free time up in smoke, and an unhappy, unsatisfied relative complaining about the degenerating performance! Please bear in mind that all of this could have been avoided if the person had heed the advice of various relatives (including myself) when deciding to buy the thing, that a 16GB SSD just wouldn't cut it.

Yea, its safe to say tec-"support" will be the next step.

People don't seem to know the difference between awesomely angry rants and whiny emo teenage complaining
Anyways, I've got a friend who's a total with a computer. He just bought a megabuff comp with a quad core, whatever Nvidia's latest card is, 8 gigs of RAM, etc. Calls me the day he gets it: "MAN HEY HELP I CAN'T GET THIS THING ONLINE THE LITTLE WIRELESS ICON'S GREYED OUT MAN PLEASE I DON'T KNOW WTF I'M GONNA DO."
While I'm at work, sorting 50lb boxes. My back's killing me, I'm hungry, and I'm generally pissed off, and I get this.
I hang up on him, angrily. He shows up at work 3 hours later (he works on the opposite shift at my workplace ), smiling, and he says: "uhhhhh..... I think I called a little too soon. I forgot to hook up the antenna on my wireless card"

@Deeso: the place for 'awesomely angry rants' is your own personal space, whether it be Facebook, MySpace, a blog, or a website where you post your own content. You're more than welcome to link to such a place in your signature if you like, but they don't belong here at NL, I'm afraid :3
