Fan film of Mega Man (which shockingly doesn't look utterly crapawful) debuts on screwattack.com next Friday (May 7). I might set up a chatroom for folks (from here and elsewhere) to get together and watch the film for the first time simultaneously, and participate in a live commentary (much like I've been doing with my live runs). Let me know if there's actually any interest and I'll set something up.
oh wow, i'm surprised that hasn't been shut down by Nintendo, lol

Would Nintendo even have the rights to shut this down?
Capcom would probably be the ones who'd do it, but they appreciate their fans way too much to do that... (I think)

idk, but didn't Ninty just shut down that LoZ fan-film thingie on YouTube a while back? that's what i was reminded of, anyway...

I'm just surprised it looks watchable! The effects are ropey, but by no means bad for a fan effort. And I'm already enjoying the reimagining of the title character as an Asian man in a bicycle helmet. haha
I would buy this if they released it on DVD/Blu-ray.

Maybe, but Nintendo owns Zelda, not Mega Man.
Capcom must know how counterproductive it is to spit in its fans' faces. They don't lose money in any way, they weren't planning on a film in all likelihood, and it gets people talking about their games. This evidently took a lot of work. It'd be cruel to shut down something so utterly harmless -- and in all likelihood ultimately beneficial.
@Adam: you could easily say all that about Nintendo, y'know :3

Currently, an authorized fan film based on the Mega Man franchise is in production, helmed by independent director Eddie Lebron. It is non-profit and is being released to DVD and download from the film's website. The filmmakers label it as authorized because a Capcom representative supposedly oversaw production of the film and got the official "okay" for the film's production by the company's higher-ups.

They screened an early version of this at MAGFest this year. I only got to see a couple minutes of a battle with Metal Man (possibly Crash, don't remember) but yeah it's super cheesy and kind of hilarious in a good way.

that's pretty cool. also explains why it hasn't been shut down. thanks, Ax :3

Obviously I can't say that about Nintendo when they've supposedly shut down the Zelda fan film. But Nintendo can't shut down a film that has nothing to do with them. Glad to see this has the official okay. Very cool of Capcom.
Can't wait to watch this, because it's great to see how creative some fan films can be. The special effects looked pretty decent for a fan film as well, and who doesn't love how campy the acting is?

Looks like I have a few folks interested in doing live chat-room commentary. We'll shoot for Friday at 8pm Eastern, as usual...assuming it's up by then. I'll post a trailer and a link sometime this week. Hope to see you there.
