Topic: Help me decide, Vita... or N3DS?

Hear me out here, I am a huge Nintendo fan. There is no question to me which the better system is.
But I've got a genuine dilemma...
I've wanted a PSV for some time, and last time I went to get one, I bought a 3DSXL instead. Don't regret it. Thing is, is that now the N3DS is coming out, I think I'd prefer to get that over the Vita as well.
Is it worth getting the Vita over the N3DS? I already know I'm going in for the N3DS but I feel like I'm limiting myself to a certain number of games, and to get the most out of this generation, I should get a Vita too.
That said, the only games I want for Vita are games I already have for something else... FFX, Minecraft, Terraria... The game library does feel limited.
Also, to top it off, when buying a PSvita Slim (the only model I can find new), I feel like I'm getting ripped off, that it's actually an expensive downgrade - because of the original model's OLED screen.

What do you think guys? Is the Vita value for money? PSVita or New 3DS XL?

For right now the only N3DS exclusive is Xenoblade Chronicles.....If you want that then i suggest you get N3DS, if not then go get a used Vita

New 3DS XL, we know that Nintendo's going to have plenty of games which either have exclusive features on that console (Smash 3DS C-stick, MH4U proper camera controls, MM3D,etc.) or are exclusive to the console (only Xenoblade Chronicles so far (the Wii version is very rare) but more will be announced when the console is announced for Europe and North America next year). If you're only wanting a Vita for games you already own then don't bother with it.

Given that it looks like the N3ds will continue to receive quality first party support and ok third party,...........and that Sony has pretty much abandoned the Vita outside of ports, indies, and Studio Japan titles, go with the N3ds.

I recommend getting a Vita. I doubt Nintendo would put any major titles the N3DS because of install base. With the Vita you'll get a new system and a wider variety of games, something new. Plus, if you don't have PS3/4, you'll get access to a huge libary of indie games. If you get one, games to definitally look into are Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Gravity Rush.

I recommend regular 3DS XL.You live in the US, and the N3DS models, as revealed by Iwata himself, aren't coming for a LONG time.

Hm...I'd say just get the one that has games that interest you more.

There is nothing here...except for the stuff I just typed...

You're asking PSV or N3DS on a Nintendo forum... You are doomed to get N3DS as an answer and it's a fact becuase we are biased

There's not much reason to get a New 3DS. Just get a Vita.
If you have a 3DS Xl, then you can play 99.9% of what the New 3DS has been announced to play.
Plus, I believe we're only 2 years away until Nintendo announces the true successor to the 3DS that can do everything the New 3DS can do, and more. Even if it's not in 2 years it will definitely happen at some point.

The Vita is like Sony's shut-in child these days. They lock it in the attic and pretend it doesn't exist.
I'd like to get a Vita someday for Uncharted: Golden Abyss... but that's one of the only things I want. So I could never justify the purchase... and then the memory cards are ridiculously overpriced.

From what I understand of the N3DS, there's going to be an exclusive Xenoblade. I can't see there being a ton of exclusives for it. It might be like a DS and DSi thing. There were a handful of exclusive DSi games, but Nintendo never went overboard.

You could maybe hold off on your purchase and wait to see what Nintendo does with the N3DS. If there isn't anything exclusive that you want, just keep your regular XL and get a Vita.

If you're asking on this site then you clearly want an N3DS more as you must be hoping for that to be the answer. Why else would you ask on a Nintendo news site? In which case go out and get the thing.

Rimmer: "Look, I think we've all got something to bring to this conversation, but I think that from now on the thing you should bring is silence."

Homer: "Oh people can come up with statistics to prove anything Kent. Forfty percent of all people know that."

This.

Also, the only games you want for the Vita you already own on another platform? Why are you even considering it then?

Why not both?

Vita, because the New 3DS seems like an odd buy unless if you really want to play Xenoblade.

Also, I'd suggest looking at Craigslist and ebay for lightly-used Vitas. You can find them pretty cheap usually.

The Vita is the kind of system that you buy for certain games, and then find that there's actually a lot of really cool stuff for it. It has one of the most consistently quality libraries I have come across, and it is a pretty sizable one. If you have PS Plus, you get at least two games a month, and what usually happens is that they're something you wouldn't have bought otherwise and enjoy quite a bit.

Also, Vita games themselves are really cheap. Gravity Rush, Uncharted, Wipeout, and a bunch of other really good games can be bought for way less than $40. The same can't be said when it comes to 3DS games by Nintendo (which is the bulk of that library).

The same could be said about the 3DS.
