Looking at my iTunes, I have 54 Rock albums (I don’t organise sub-genres), 2 Pop albums (Pet Sounds and Thriller), 5 Folk albums (all of them by Bob Dylan), and 5 Alternative/Punk albums.
But it I had to choose a favourite genre, it would probably be... Album Oriented Rock, be it psychedelic, progressive or whatever, I like music that tries to look at the bigger picture of the album format, something not many (or any at all) artists do today. So yes, I’m an AOR head.
Let me tell you something Sonny Jim. What you enjoy about music, the inherent quality that we all react to, that sense of connection and enjoyment and the strength of that experience, has NOTHING to do with whether the musician is wielding a guitar, a violin, a sampler, or anything you can imagine. Genre boundaries have their uses, but if you like music, it's music as a whole that you're in love with, not a certain single kind, even if you don't realise it yet.
Guys, before anything happens, let me just hope we try and not get into a fight about what a genre is (I saw one unfold in the official Rock Band forums, it got pretty ugly).
I prefer Alternative and Indie Rock. Especially if it has a pysch-feel to it like Animal Collective or MGMT. I hate mainstream music, as there are only 2 mainstream artists I can listen to at the moment. Make that 1 artist if you don't count Florence + The Machine as mainstream.

@Cloudcult10 - Nice try, but no. I think B.o.B is at least decent, but I'll give props to any rapper willing to do something as far out in left field as sample Vampire Weekend on his debut album.

I like Country music, Christian music, Oldies Music, Pop Music like Victoria Justice Miley Cyrus, and Classical Music.

So many Awesome video games coming out this year! So many games so little money! Crap!
That's hard to say....I'm a music major, so I try to keep an open mind and I pretty much listen to everything. My favorites are electropop, alternative, and punk, in that order. Oh, and of course, classical, and video game music. But video game music is such a ridiculously broad genre, that's like saying "I like music". Actually, I think I'll go with that one.

@Monix2598 I like R&B. Some of it. I really like Ne-Yo a lot, and I'm eagerly awaiting his new album coming out November 22nd.
