Topic: Favorite Genre of Music

What's you guys favorite genre of music? i ask this because i enjoy alot of R&B and Soul music but my friend told me that noone listens to R&B and Soul. another reason is because i just wanted to know some of you guys favorite genre of music.

I enjoy 80s New Wave/Punk (I am old), folk, celtic, and World Music. I don't think I could name one genre as my favorite.

Whether it's pop-ish like Green Day and Blink 182, or classic like The Ramones and The Clash, my answer is punk.

Let me tell you something Sonny Jim. What you enjoy about music, the inherent quality that we all react to, that sense of connection and enjoyment and the strength of that experience, has NOTHING to do with whether the musician is wielding a guitar, a violin, a sampler, or anything you can imagine. Genre boundaries have their uses, but if you like music, it's music as a whole that you're in love with, not a certain single kind, even if you don't realise it yet.

When a musician does their thing, and it's played together with other musicians with a shared direction, and it's recorded in sympathy with the feel of the music, and if there is a purity of human expression and soul at the centre of it all, something special happens that's difficult to explain or understand. But we all experience and stand moved by it, once we get past our preconceptions and allow ourselves to see through what's not important and get to the heart of what makes music special to us. Live life with an open mind.

Ragtime. Even though a lot of it sounds the same, I like that sound.

I like pretty much everything except for country, Christian or J-pop.

Rock and punk music probably rank as my most played.

I listen to lots of Game Music, too.

i listen to drum and bass, mostly liquid. and jungle. but i don`t listen to jump up quite so much though.
also, i love listening to tracks that take on other styles of music, whether it`s pop, rap, jazz, classical, or rock.
it`s really difficult to label drum and bass as just one style, especialy when it can adapt to so many others when it`s done right.
even david bowie tried his hands at making drum and bass (along with a few other styles of dance music) on his album "earthing", although, it flopped big time if i recall.

Mostly rock and some video game music

Pop and Hip-Hop. Yeah, I'm one of "those." But I like a LOT of other stuff as well.

My favorite is Country Music, followed closely by Pop and Alternative.

Blink-182, Bullet for my Valentine and Sum 41 are a few of my favorites.

I mainly enjoy Metal, 80's thrash metal especially and most Rock in general. Some say it's angry, but I love it. It's raw and in your face at times, but can also get your blood pumping. I will say though that I mainly do not like other genres of music, thougn ever say never because with any genre I still find one or two that I find myself singing to. It's rare for me, but it happens.

Generally I like hard rock, instrumental rock, and progressive rock, but I mostly just enjoy music that sounds good. P:

I guess Techno and All forms of Rock. I also enjoy Pop and J-Pop when it's really good. And Classical, folk, any kind of instramental is fine by me.

Country, preferably 80's and 90's and some from the late 70's and early 00's.

I think he's either quoting someone, or he's just saying that genre doesn't matter so long as the artist has talent, which I could agree with whole-heartedly.
