Topic: Do you know any foreign languages?

I know a little German.

Sorry, someone had to say it.

I took French throughout high school and college but never had the chance to go anywhere where it's spoken. You don't have a chance at learning a language inside and out unless you have people to speak it with every day, for at least a little while. I read it well enough though.

Starting Spanish now and hope to continue learning it through grad school since finding people who speak Spanish to practice with in the southern USA isn't that hard. Japanese would be cool to learn, but all I've ever done was play Slime Forest. I should really start playing again.

Come on, friends,

i'm only surprised it took this long for someone to do that, lol. also, Slime Forest! I haven't played that in years. It was kinda fun, as far as freeware educational games go. :3

I don't think that knowing about 20 words in french allows you to say I know a language does it?

"I only speak two languages: English and bad English." ... One of my favorite Bruce Willis movie quotes.

Back on topic, I used to speak German fluently. I was born and raised in Germany, but I moved to the States when I was sixteen. Haven't practiced my German much in the last decade. I still understand it just fine, but you'll have me uhmming and aahing when it comes to speaking/writing it myself.

My native language is Spanish.
I didn't know so many people in here had or have some interest on japanese, I really want to learn it but haven't find the time, I can read kana and know some basic kanji, vocabulary and grammar, but there's a long way to go.
I was the best at my english class , my friends are amazed of how I can have a fluent conversation in english, but writing it, is my weakest skill, actually I've noticed an improvement since I post here at NL, thank you.

It's a picture used in an Uncyclopedia article, namely 'I burning your dog!'.

I took 2 years of French but the teacher made us swap our weekly tests with our neighbors and correct each others papers. My friend and I just left our tests blank and filled in the correct answers in while we "graded" the tests. I did try to learn the language though but I never used it so it eventually left my mind. I can still count to ten and say my name in French though.
I also speak Spanish but I'm not that great at it.

Well I'm from the states, but I'll be taking my 5th year of Spanish next year in High School (you start in Junior High for those of you who were going to make any "derr you've been in high school for 5 years?! LOLZ" jokes). I'm getting pretty good, I guess.

Erg tof.

I translate it for the non Dutch people. Not that you guys think that we are talking behind your backs . I though that our languages (Dutch/African) sounds alike and the youtube link is of Charlize Theron who changed from English to African (her native language) in a Belgian interview. Very cool.

I am Puerto Rican, so I already know English and Spanish. (People here typically know only Spanish, and, if they know Spanish, they usually learn such second and typically speak suck poorly.) I took a basic-basic summer French course in college this June, and I am going to resume my Japanese studies (that I keep postponing...). I plan to learn German, Hebrew, Greek, Chinese, and MAYBE Arabic (though I will give each language one individual year!).
...
...my father encouraged me to learn more.

Video gaming was revolutionized in Japan. (Remember that a GERMAN brought birth to video gaming!) Not only does a lot a gaming information come from Japan, but there are games that never leave that country. (Oh, and there is the increasing Japanification of the United States.)

Actually, I like Bowser AND hairy bellies!

In Canada it's mandatory to take French in school from grade 4-9, so I know French pretty well, and obviously I know English, cause that's what I'm speaking right now.

It's not so strange. We're on a forum about video games, which really took off in Japan, and as such a lot of people here are really interested in Japan and Japanese. It helps to understand the culture and the humor behind the games, and also a lot of information or even games are only released in Japan, as it's been said before.
