unless it's a 3DS in which case you'll get 20 free games.

That doesn't actually do anything to contradict your point in any way imaginable...

Alright...so why did you say it? :/

...I don't know.

I'd like to believe this is all the gaming equivalent of "are we the baddies?"

People: WTF!? 2D Platforming? Why would you de-evolve Mario games, Nintendo? We don't want linear platforming, we want 3D Open World exploration!

I think you just said word for word what Reggie said at an interview during E3 once. Not sure.

Anyways, yeah, the Nintendo fans wanted the series to remain the same, and be released more often, so that's exactly what's happened. Personally, I prefer it when Nintendo does things really differently (Yoshi's Island, Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine...)

Let's just say every gaming website with an active forum total of 50,000 gamers came to an agreement of not buying the next New Super Mario Bros. title. What does that do? Mario sells millions whether or not one person refuses a purchase. As long as it sells we'll continue seeing releases.

The only thing one can do is ignore the games if they don't like it.

I wasn't exactly broadcasting this message to the world, but if everyone who didn't like the way NSMB was going stopped buying the games then it would make enough of a difference for Nintendo to take notice. If it doesn't then that just shows how small a minority we are in that belief - and if that is indeed true then why should the series change just for us?

I'm pretty sure the people who are sick of the ten Mario titles a year have already exited the building. Yet the numbers are bigger than ever. Everyone and their goldfish love Mario. And yes, Mario and any product's successor should never change to benefit the minority's tastes.

I think that a new Mario shouldn't be announced at this year's E3. I think this E3 should be spend on other titles, I've grown quite tired of ANOTHER MARIO game EVERY SINGLE YEAR. I know Mario sells systems, but I think Nintendo is abusing this power. We saw two NSMBs this year, last year we saw Super Mario 3D Land (And Mario Kart) and in 2010 we saw SMG2 (just why nintendo?) and the year before that we saw NSMBW. Overall I think it is fun to see Mario but I don't want him featured in this year's E3.

1. Only one for each console what's so wrong about that?

2. Super Mario Galaxy 2 was an improvement over it's predecessor in almost all accounts, I don't see how that could be seen as a "(just why nintendo?)"

1. Sorry I was mistaken. There was 3 Mario titles last year. Paper Mario Sticker Star. 3 MARIO GAMES IN ONE YEAR?!?!?!?!? COME ON.

2. I don't want to see the same game with the same mechanics again, especially for the 3D mario games. Okay, there's Yoshi. Well every 3D Super Mario game is supposed to be different and innovative. At least call it Super Mario Universe or something, but Super Mario Galaxy 2? OH HECK NO.

well the problem is more that NSMB is 4 games that are overall an inferior rehash of games from over 2 decades ago at this point while Mario Galaxy 2 were a bunch of cool ideas that they had during/after the development of Galaxy 1. Also the fact that none of the Mario games are like Galaxy except its sequel. Also the fact that 3D platformers aren't everywhere for 10 bucks or less to download by every other indie developer. Also the fact that even despite all of this stuff the biggest issue with NSMBWii was how much it showed how little original ideas mattered rather than the game itself being that bad and multiplayer's success probably leading to many awesome co-op 2d platformers.

Yeah seriously people need to stop stressing Nintendo so much by saying different things every time they do something the fans want, you don't want them to end up like Ono do you? Remember last year

I just remember Capcom forcing him to work despite being sick. Maybe I was too angry to notice any fan relevance.

Kinda. New Super Mario Bros. games sell a lot more than games than Galaxy or 3D Land.

I agree 100%. Especially how fans handled OtherM. I think i'm going to far but I think that Nintendo fans are the bitchiest gamers out there. I myself don't really care if the nsmb series is getting alot of releases all I can say is that I had alot of fun playing all of the games in the series.

I don't see what the problem is with SMG 2. I love SMG 2. I would absolutely love it if they came out with a 3rd and final SMG for th Wii U, that's how much I like SMG. NSMB? Well, we aren't seeing another of those for 6 years, stop complaining.

I must also say Paper Mario is Nintendo's RPG(and really, Sticker Star wasn't) that they slapped Mario face onto. So I don't really count that as a Mario game. If you want new game series/more variety in gameplay, stop complaining about every new thing Nintendo does. PM:SS : "Oh the battles are messed up, they scrapped all the RPG elements, there's barely a story" And guess what? A lot of this was fans' fault. Nintendo made NSMBU because it sells well. They made NSMB 2 because they wanted another Mario on 3DS, and that was the solution. I'm calling it right now: this year at E3 there'll be something completely new or something big added to one of their games, and if people hate it, they're pretty much gonna give up altogether on making new, unique games. And it will be the fans fault. I personally don't see the problem with what Nintendo's doing, I'll support them whatever they do. But seriously.... stop complaining.

Yes, I've actually been thinking about this lately and I've come to the same conclusion. It's quite sad really that people just can't choose wether they want the games in the series to have the same mechanics or to have them changed. The saddest part is that they obviously keep buying the games after that- because they all still sell well and everyone still complains about them. Nintendo should just stick to changing the mechanics methinks, because their games are almost always going to sell well. Personally, I'm happy to play the same game over and over if I enjoy it but innovation is a breath of fresh air, and I think that's what Nintendo do best, and they shouldn't let complainers get to them...
Or I could be disastrously wrong and kill Nintendo if I made them do that, I dunno lol about game sales because I barely look at them...

1. You forgot about Mario Tennis Open: 4.
(On that note, while I will pretty much always enjoy Mario because I'm one of those people that believes in the line "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", that many games last year was overkill... Especially because two were NSMB titles- I would rather have seen NSMB2 get pushed back to sometime this year so it could have been as different from the other ones as NSMBU was on THAT note as well.)

I'm pretty sure no matter if they're the same or different people will still buy them (including me) so who cares?

Wow - it's almost as if the fans don't all have one unanimous opinion about everything!
Who'd have predicted that?

When we buy a NSMB game despite complaining about how generic and unoriginal it is, then yes.
