I know Mario sells systems, but I think Nintendo is abusing this power. We saw two NSMBs this year, last year we saw Super Mario 3D Land (And Mario Kart) and in 2010 we saw SMG2 (just why nintendo?) and the year before that we saw NSMBW. Overall I think it is fun to see Mario but I don't want him featured in this year's E3.

1. Only one for each console what's so wrong about that?

2. Super Mario Galaxy 2 was an improvement over it's predecessor in almost all accounts, I don't see how that could be seen as a "(just why nintendo?)"

1. Sorry I was mistaken. There was 3 Mario titles last year. Paper Mario Sticker Star. 3 MARIO GAMES IN ONE YEAR?!?!?!?!? COME ON.

2. I don't want to see the same game with the same mechanics again, especially for the 3D mario games. Okay, there's Yoshi. Well every 3D Super Mario game is supposed to be different and innovative. At least call it Super Mario Universe or something, but Super Mario Galaxy 2? OH HECK NO.

1. You forgot about Mario Tennis Open: 4. :P
(On that note, while I will pretty much always enjoy Mario because I'm one of those people that believes in the line "if it ain't broke, don't fix it", that many games last year was overkill... Especially because two were NSMB titles- I would rather have seen NSMB2 get pushed back to sometime this year so it could have been as different from the other ones as NSMBU was on THAT note as well.)

Oh yeah, Mario Tennis. That makes 4. If I hear Mario mentioned ONCE in this year's E3 (Except if it has to do with Smash Bros) I will seriously get fvcking pissed.

Well instead of 4 Mario games this year, there could've been 1 and then the other 3 would be other IPs. F-Zero, Metroid, Kirby, and the list goes on. Personally I've had too much Mario for a year. 2013 should take a break from any new Mario titles released. (Although it won't be true, because Mario Kart U, Mario Strikers U, Mario & Luigi 4, Mario vs Donkey Kong 3D, New Super Mario Bros U 2, and Mario Golf 3D will all be announced this E3 for sale this holiday season)

Again, you do know you're not forced to buy Mario games.... right?

Oh and btw, there's one NSMB title per console. Know what that means? THERE WON'T BE ANOTHER NSMB TITLE UNTIL THEY LAUNCH AN ALL NEW CONSOLE IN 6 YEARS!!! So stop saying they're going to launch another NSMB title at E3, IT'S NOT HAPPENING.

@3Dash I know I'm not forced to buy Mario games. However, Nintendo is spending thier time making 5 Mario games a year when they could be spending their time on a new Metroid or Donkey Kong.

I can't help but find it a little ironic that @pntjr's avatar is Mario yet he goes on about how he's apparently sick of the series now...

This. If there's one lesson in life, it's that you can't please everyone. There will always be those that will hate something no matter what. If they do get what they begged for, they'll find something to gripe about. As Reggie said, fans can be insatiable. Besides, Nintendo is a business, a fact that many fans keep forgetting. Playing the blame game will only result in losers on both sides.

while this is all true, again Nintendo at it's best is usually on the line between change and sameyness. None of those games I'd consider their best work too. Granted, the point is more for the hypocrisy of fans, which I agree is completely true. But there is at least SOME logic in there. From some people. Maybe.

I must also say Nintendo has put themselves in a situation that at least 2-3 Mario games are expected from them, whether it's a 3D Mario, 2D Mario, Mario Tennis, Mario Kart, Paper Mario, etc. They can't just stop making Mario altogether.

Mario games haven't really been taking any "risks" since Galaxy 1 really.

Games To Finish: Arkham City, Nintendo Land, Wario Land: Shake It!, Red Steel 2, Okami, Xenoblade Chronicles, Sticker Star, Dragon Quest IX, Okamiden, Spirit Tracks, Superstar Saga, Kid Icarus 1 & 2, Blaster Master: Enemy Below, Bionic Commando GB, Rayman GBC, Banjo Tooie, Castlevania: SotN.

I'd argue Sticker Star has if you look at people's reactions.

I do appreciate with Nintendo being increasingly scared to change other Mario games, that Intelligent Systems is like "no we're still not making a game like the first 2 Paper Marios". For better or worse.

Hudsonsoft is gone, we're not getting another Mario party any time soon, unless some other dev feels like making it.
@kk The sticker mechanic was Shiggy, and the lack of partners was also Shiggy's doing. He obviously has originality left, but his use of it depends on how the fans react to his ideas.

i generally don't buy any mario games unless they're unique when compared to older mario games. so i usually stay away from the NSMB series. i like the old mario games because they were all unique, and i like the 3D mario games because each one is entirely different when compared to the last 3D game, but i have yet to experience the galaxy games...

which is better? to be born a hero, or to be born evil and overcome that nature?

@Happy Mask: Mario Party 9 wasn't even developed by Hudson, it was developed by Nd Cube which is a now completely owned by Nintendo company made up of former Hudson employees.

Anyway, I'm planning on buying NSMBU used just to spite Nintendo. I honestly think that Shiggy is getting old and finally losing his touch (going by Sticker Star).
