Topic: Auto-comments & quoting bugs

Loving the improvements with comments, guys. Automatic adding is sweet. Noticed a bug though, the reply/edit/delete/report buttons don't show on new comments you've added until you manually refresh the page.

Also, when editting a post with a quote, it adds a [/div] tag under the quote

If you see this, TBD, this is what I was referring to in the comments thread for that huge 3DS Showcase post, regarding reporting. I thought that the buttons had disappeared until I refreshed.

I was just about to make a thread about this. Glad you did though, otherwise I would wonder if I was the only one who was bothered by it.

I noticed the editing quotes thing too. No big deal, but makes the post seem weird.

The quote bug is slowly but surely eating away at my sanity...

Well you'll have to put up with it for a while longer, Mickeymac — Ant is having a very well-deserved holiday next week so we'll just have to see how much of your sanity is left by the time he gets back.

Besides that, I'm afraid I've got y'all beat — Ant's already been informed on all counts. :3

The only issue I have with the comments is on mobile devices (I know iOS for sure, not 100% about others) is that you are unable to report.

Other than that, I would marry the auto-load comments if I could.

I HAVE FOUND ANOTHER COMMENTS BUG _{because Ant isn't busy enough}

Sometimes - seems to be particularly on older articles and reviews, but can't confirm this - the comments loop. Pour exemple, when I looked at the Sonic 3 review today:

Looks fine so far...

Further down, the same comments here again...

And then a third time for good measure. Whoops!

Refreshing the page tends to reload the comments correctly, but it's the second or third time I've come across this, so might be worth looking into

Got the same bug even before you posted this. Very annoying, I love the new auto comments but I'd rather have that issue gone. It makes them seem useless.

Ant knows, guys. There's also a bug regarding user deletion of comments — some users have no problems deleting their own comments from main-site articles, others can't even delete their own comments via their user profiles, he's said he'll try to get to that one this week.

@tbd: thank the gods! i thought i was going nutz a couple of days ago trying to delete a post...finally edited it to erase the original and put another comment in its place.

ah well: it kept me out of the bar and poolhall.

I can't even edit posts I make on articles at all any more, is that a bug or inentional?

I'm pretty sure that's just when you've just posted a comment that shows up automatically, @Nibelit. Try clicking out of the article and then back in or just refreshing and see if that helps.

The duplication of comments should now be fixed, you should also be able to edit/delete comments (without refreshing the page).

Are there any other problems still active?

@antdickens Well I have a minor problem. When I'm on my 3DS, and comment on news articles, not in the forums, sometimes my posts don't take. Instead it empties the box, without reloading the page. I found a way to make it work though. Double press send, and hit reload quick.
Doesn't happen as much anymore, but it still happens

The duplicates bug is fixed, but I still can't edit comments. Well, I guess it doesn't matter since I rarely do anyway.
