example: You put down a monster card and a couple spell and/or trap cards on your table, then when the 3DS recognizes them, the monster appears on your table in 3D. People will then be able to battle friends on the other side of the table and/or computer AI duelists.
Discuss, would this be a good or bad idea? Any suggestions or comments?

I"m sure Konami will make a Yu-gi-oh game. I only hope it will use AR. I would love to see Red Eyes Black Dragon on my table. I wonder if you would be able to use it during online battles if the game were to include that. Yu-gi-oh with AR has endless possibilities and would be so cool. I'd buy it.
It comes down to how they would make it work, coding the spell and trap cards to work on the field might be a pain, and to recognize if a card is in defense or attack positions might be somewhat difficult.
Hopefully its not too complicated for them to make it happen.
I keep saying the same thing...being able to use my own cards that have been collecting dust for YEARS in a video game would be awesome. Especially if AR is used... EDIT: I'm pretty sure they could design a special playing mat, so the system could detect that stuff easier.

This is actually much smarter then using the AR cards. Since the games always have the cards in them they could just make some AR mat similar to the ones for tournaments. It would be easier than having to use multiple AR cards. I'm sure it would be confusing if you had to actually flip the AR cards up down and defense position.
lol that might give me reason to bring out the cards thats been in a old box for about half a decade.

Well I meant a mat that would help the 3DS read whatever card is on your side...dunno about using the actual AR-...gah I'm confused now! xD

Keep it PG-13-ish.
I'm sure Magic would come after, Nintendo appeals to the masses and frankly Yu-gi-Oh and/or Pokemon is more widely known than Magic The Gathering.
Although it wouldn't be bad, it is an awesome game.
I'm pretty sure there aren't professional Yugioh and Pokemon card game players - or a world championship league.
I can promise you that Magic outsells all the other CCGs. It's probably not as popular amongst Nintendo gamers, because they tend to be younger, but it would still make for a more awesome 3DS AR CCG.
You can play Pokemon TCG online. Go to the Pokemon website. Eventually, they'll release a player vs player.
Not AS cool as AR card games but having the chance to play PTCG on the computer is sweet. I'm still wanting one on the DS (or 3DS- whatever). It's a perfect match. Who played the Gameboy version? That came out on my birthday and you can bet I was stoked
Correction: There IS a Championship League for Pokemon. It's on their website pretty much every year. But seems as though they are focusing on the video games more than that.
I think there's way too much to keep track of on screen to recreate Yugioh or Pokemon card games. You can bet your bottom dollar there will be some kind of Pokemon AR game though, it's too big an opportunity for them not to do something.
Wow, it's pretty scary to tthink that we're actually getting close to a variation of the duel technology used in the original Yu-gi-oh! anime. Another 20 years or so, and we could be turbo dueling with holograms while riding motorcycles with built in duel disks.
Ash: Professor Oak, how's your Bulbasaur?
Prof. Oak: Oh, it only hurts when I sit.
...
Prof. Oak: It's only Chansey if Krabby won't let go. Bye, now.
Ash: I don't think I'm going to call him anymore.
