Man thats a great idea that would be so much fun!!! But then they would have to release new Yugio AR cards and we would have to purchase a deck or something. Hope they do something like that

3DS or no 3DS that is the question.

It's k. It's not really big or popular anymore. I do know they have Poke prizes and gave away limited edition Champion Ship cards, but that's about it.

in case you're wondering what the card game equivalent of a Mac user or hybrid driver is, it's a Magic the Gathering player

Pokemon is 1995 I think, and Yugi-oh came out in like 2000. It's only 5 years...
The AR data probably isn't in the old cards though. The only cards that would probably be readable are the E-reader cards since they actually have some sort of data printed on them.
They could make older cards compatible, but it's not likely. They will just add a code on newer cards for 6th gen if anything, and make sure older Pokemon are in the packs. Nintendo should just have a card pack that gets you 1-3rd gen cards, 4 & 5th gen cards, then the next gen cards. It would be easier to sell 3 different packs of AR cards ranging of all the gens with a few starter decks that have the a built in code for all to read instead of recognizing old cards.
I would most likely buy Pokemon cards again if AR was used.
As for Yugi-oh, that was popular for a while, but it came and went while Pokemon stayed as far as I could tell.

EDIT: Whoops, didn't see this thread was 2 years old...

Yeah, bad ninja. : / But I believe Yu-Gi-Oh! debuted in Japan in '96.

If they do this I'll bust out my old Yu-Gi-Oh cards. Haven't played in an expansion or two, but I'm willing to give it another go. (Edit: Didn't see this thread was two years older either, lol.)

My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.

I think yugioh with ar cards would be an awesome idea.

I like playing petit computer on 3ds but i'm a horrible programmer.
Oh and if you couldn't tell i really like yugioh.

If they improved the recognition technology, it might work... But, looking from the KI:U AR, which took forever to load and only allowed two cards to be loaded at once... it has a ways to go before it can acceptably handle something like Yu-Gi-Oh. All this besides the lighting issue...

another old thread revival? let me help! I'd really like to see AR for pokemonTCG(I have lot's of cards collecting dust in my wardrobe I love to play pokemon TCG but people I know say it's unfair because I'm "too strong" even though I'm FAR bellow the competitive level.)

People STILL don't realize that there's no point in trying to sell AR cards. Not only is the feature seldom used, but you can just print them off for free.

I think the point is building an app that runs on the currently existing cards so both the app and the cards would get more popularity(I might have understood wrong but that's my point of view)....

@Gioku it's an old thread with half page of today's posts, it's been a successful revival to my eyes so it's not bad!
