Topic: Would you like it if nintendo makes something similar to skype on the 3ds?

It has already been confirmed that this will come on the Wii U. However, why not have it on the 3DS? It has the capibility. Something similar is used in starfox64 where you see your opponents face in multiplayer battle. Therefore the 3DS can definitely support this function if it were to exist.

lol true!! I keep on using the status thing to chat...Well you can still use yahoo mobile e.t.c. I totally agree with you. But skype does have its own messening system.

I wouldn't care in the slightest. I didn't buy a 3DS to communicate with people. If I wanted to do that I have other means of doing so.

that could be useful or fun, especially skype.
but since i dont know much people that has a 3ds, it needs to be a online media, where you can meet other users without them being close.

but...which game would this be useful with anyway. nothing much is worth enough online on the 3ds yet.
resident evil perhaps. and the upcoming monster hunters AND heroes of ruin, but im sure the game itself will have something in them already implemented.

skype would be great but even a closed 3DS to 3DS video/voice/IM system (which I think is what you actually meant) would be pretty awesome. I seem to remember this being one of the things I thought they should include when I first heard about the 3DS.

I also said they should include media support (specifically mp3 and some kind of 2D/3D video format), youtube (including 3D), facebook/twitter integration into the friends list, 3D Movie trailers (Nintendo Video says hi), a web browser (check), Miis (horray!) and some cool games. So... I think most done, one half way there, some never and I think that the video calls thing is in that last category.

I don't know why people point to other discussions when a new thread is actually going. The OP should search for a thread before they create a new one but once it's created and going (with everyone assuming the OP searched for a similar thread) I don't see why it should be shut down like that. It's just annoying.

...... and I don't know why people think skype or a similar thing to skype would be a bad idea on the 3DS AT ALL.

Skype, is a software application that allows users to make voice and video calls and chats over the Interwebs.
i do have Skype, but i never use it. i would much rather have something like picto chat insted.

In the way of communication on the 3DS I'm hoping that Nintendo will implement something similar to what Sony has over on the PSVita. A chat/texting function that can be universally used both inside of games and outside of games. For example, if I am playing Mario Kart 7 it would be nice to be able to voice chat with friends that I know personally while in a game like Animal Crossing I could have the option of texting with someone that I don't physically know.

If I just turn on my 3DS and don't feel like playing an actual game it would still be nice to be able to text or voice chat with my contacts without having to go into an actual game.
