That's why i have my fingers cross for an HD collection of the first three games.Or maybe just a thousand year door remake would be better.

The Harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. When the going gets tough, the tough gets going.

I'm currently playing Watch Dogs 2 & Manhunt

The more I hear people complain about this game the more I want to play it. I have never played a Paper Mario game before and this will probably be my first.

Why would you do that? Wouldn't you rather pick up one of the earlier titles that people actually thought was good?

I say go for it! Not everybody hated it and I rather enjoyed it. I think if it was a stand alone title instead of part of a series then it wouldn't be getting so much flack. The music is awesome, has good to great graphics, and I had no problems whatsoever with the gameplay. Besides at the very least he should be able to pick it up cheap.

Oh wow, this is the first time since Epic Yarn and Other M that I've seen a game drop so drastically in price in such a short time. And believe me, that's a tier you want to stay away from...

Well look at the bright side, atleast Dream Team is WAY BETTER THAN STICKER STAR!!!!!!!!!!

I can however argue that the concept may have been made by vanpool instead of Intelligent systems because when you think about it, Intelligent systems has made a lot of great games like Fire Emblem so I don't know if I can blame Intelligent Systems here. And besides, Its atleast playable and this is Nintendo we're talking here always being experimental.........unlike some that i'm aware of.........

After so long...I'm back. Don't ask why

I already own Paper Mario on Wii VC, Super Paper Mario, and Paper Mario Sticker Star... Just haven't played any of them. Sticker Star will probably be my first though

EDIT: I also already own Dream Team but I will probably wait for after Sticker Star for that as well.

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

Two things.

One; I liked Sticker Star as a game. Ok, it's not a traditional Paper Mario game, I get that. But it's still good as a game in its own right. I loved it, actually, and found it very fun, even without all the stuff people complain about (I think the main things were story, characters, and the sticker system? which the lack of the first two didn't bother me and the 3rd one was what made the game challenging in a good way).

Two; why in the world should Intelligent Systems EVER make another Paper Mario game? Seriously, why? Super Paper Mario got a ton of hate. Paper Mario: Sticker Star got a ton of hate. Logically speaking, Intelligent Systems should not make another Paper Mario game because they can't seem to please its fans. I can already hear your response though: "But @AddADashOfSalt, those were bad games, because they weren't almost exactly the same as the original and The Thousand Year Door! We want a game that's almost exactly the same as the first two, with no changes whatsoever to the way the game plays, an amazing story, and not all the crappy weird stuff Sticker Star and Super Paper Mario had in it!" Ok, so basically, I think what you want in The Thousand Year Door. So go play it. Or request a remake. You're literally asking for almost exactly the same thing that Thousand Year Door and the original were. And game developers have figured out that usually, in order to make a profit, their new game has to not be a ROM hack. As for story, go read a freakin' book if that's why you're so into games (not saying that story in games is bad, but the lack thereof shouldn't prevent you from liking a game). Books have a lot of characters in them, too.

So yes, seriously, give me a valid reason why Intelligent Systems should make another Paper Mario game. Logically, they shouldn't and may not. They can't seem to satisfy you, and when they make a new game they're going to have something in it that is new in order for people to be interested. If you're not willing to embrace games as, well, games, then don't play them.

@AddADashOfSalt Sales for the Paper Mario games are still really good Sticker Star has sold almost 2 million so far there is your reason.
Edit: And it's a logical one too.

In the same way, I get the feeling that Intelligent Systems may have made a fantastic 3DS Paper Mario game if Miyamoto didn't come along and demand certain changes and criteria for the game, chief among them being taking out the RPG elements and story.

Wrong. Miyamoto had nothing to do with the RPG elements being removed. How many more times do I have to post the link to the Iwata Asks article that disproves this? Taro Kudo, who was in charge of direction for the game: "Personally I think all we need is to have an objective to win the boss battle at the end of the game. I didn't think we necessarily needed a lengthy story like in an RPG."

Just to jump in here but from the quote you've given, I interpret that explanation as for the lack of a detailed story, not RPG gameplay elements.

I'm basically with @AddADashOfSalt on this. Say what you will about any Paper Mario, at least they all have their own identity. I don't about anyone else but I don't want TTYD2.

I'd certainly love being able to play TTYD in a modern system though.

After buying the game for the 6th time, I came to the realization that it simply did not work on the Wii.

And also logically speaking, consider the phrase "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." Fans in the first two games only have been "fooled" twice. Even if IS made another Paper Mario, and it wasnt exactly like the first two, many, many fans of the first two wouldn't get it even if they bought Super Paper Mario and Sticker Star.

Your point may be slightly valid, but not enough for me to say it's the valid reason I was looking for.

Let's also not forget that Sticker Star was pretty much all alone as far as choices went towards the end of that year. I remember wanting to beat it before the surge of great titles that came put last year. I can't think of anything worth owning like 3 to 4 months leading up to its release.

Club Nintendo has only been around for about 10 years if that. Not sure if the cube had it but I thought Gba did.

It may not be valid enough for you but I'm sure it's a good enough reason for Nintendo to greenlight another entry for Intelligent Systems to make as sales were bigger when compared to Super Paper Mario so the series clearly isn't dead and there is always a new generation of gamers to sell games to.

Well, if anything, that sounds more like a problem with the story of the game than with story being a feature of the series.

The only thing Sticker Star was missing:

Memorable Characters
Level Up system (battles were useless with no point or reward)
Online Sticker Trading
Not enough Stickers
Not enough Sticker pages
No way to tell what you did or didn't have in areas
Besides that, there isn't much else
